ARISTOS

"Anybody here?" I entered the police department and looked around, waiting for somebody to answer me. A police officer watched me without a word, then said, "Good evening, Sir. How may I help you?"

I narrowed my dark, angry eyes at him. I felt an uncomfortable shiver run down my spine as the cop was observing me closely. "Have you found the missing girl, Aphrodite, yet? Or do I have to do the fucking job myself?"

The officer turned away from me. "Is something wrong, Sir?"

"What the fuck?" I hissed angrily and desperately at the same time. "Answer me."

"I'm afraid that is still under investigation."

"So you haven't even went out looking for her yet?!" I raised my voice. "Fucking waste of my time." I turned on my heel and stormed out of the building.

I had been spending a fortune on gas ever since Aphrodite was taken. I wasn't convinced that I had driven on every single road in all of the state of Louisiana even though I probably had. I'd even driven all the way across the borders of the state into Mississippi and Arkansas.

I jumped in my car and slammed the door shut as I clenched my teeth. My hands shook as I tried to light up a blunt. I decided to drive west to Texas next. I was determined to find my baby girl and there was no telling what I would do to my cousin when I saw him.

I might kill him.
