Rise From The Ashes

Once the ceremony had finally come to an end The Dauntless stood and began to shuffle their way towards the door following them closely I take one last look at the section of Amity and see Jo waving goodbye to me I give her a small wave back before bursting through the doors with my fellow dauntless

The dauntless born lead the way running down the center of the street people scurried to the sidewalks to keep out of our path

Coming to a pause under the tracks of the train I watched as the dauntless born effortlessly began to climb the posts

Hurriedly I made my way to an open spot to climb, once at the top I felt hands grab my arms and steady me

"Hey, we're going to have to be quick follow me." Following tore to the platform I was caught in awe of the train as it began to come around the corner

Glancing to my left where the others had been I realized they were now halfway down the platform one of them waving for me to catch up.

With feet pounding and the wind whipping all around us I managed to get right behind the guy who had waved me down

People had started catching the train climbing into the open carts. My lunges we're burning from trying to keep with the train and my side was starting to cramp.

Oh come on,  just a little farther

Finally, I was able to snag a toe hold and throw my body into the open floor
Panting I sat upright pushing up to get to my feet "well that sure was a blast."

Watching buildings below flash by as the train billowed on my attention flashed to a movement in the corner of my eye. It was dauntless kids on a roof

No, it was dauntless kids who jumped out onto the roof. We had to jump off the train.

"What happens if we can't make the jump?" A scared boy questioned

"What do you think?" Snapped a girl in grey before she jumped out a door further towards the front than mine

I backed up giving myself room to run before flying through the doorway gracelessly landing on the roof of the dauntless compound.

The roof was covered in gravel while rising to my feet I plucked the small stones from the palm of my hand.

Everyone began to gather toward a ledge where a tall man casually walked along the top.

I made my way over as he began to speak "Alright listen up, I'm Eric one of your leaders." He started while pacing along the edge. "If you want to enter dauntless this is the way in. Unless you don't have the guts to jump, then you don't belong in dauntless."

Shortly after he finished a boy questioned "is there water at the bottom or something?"

There was a pause before he flatly replied "guess you'll find out, or not."

This is ridiculous we just jumped twice and they want us to jump off the building now?

My attention to the situation came back when he mentioned somewhat impatient "well someone's got to go who's it going to be?" And again there was a silence among us as everyone scanned the crowd for who would come forward to be the first jumper.

I knew it had to be me I already had nothing to lose and everything to prove.
"I'll go." At that, everyone turned to look at me and suddenly I felt ten times worse about this

Taking a step forward the people in front of me parted the way so that I could make it to the ledge.

The man known as Eric dropped down beside me walking watching me as I passed him. When I realized he was the one who helped me onto the truck and the one who had stopped me and the bullies.
