As I was walking, my phone rang.
I was startled at first, saying that I hardly ever get phone calls.
"H-Hello..?" I hesitantly answered.
"Hi, there. Is this Mary Violets?" The person on the phone asked.
"Yes.. that's me." I said.
"Well.. I've some bad news." They said.
"It can't be that bad.. what is it?" I asked.
"You're fired. They found someone better to take your place." The person on the phone said, emotionlessly.
At that moment, I felt my heart shatter.
'First my own family kicked me out, and now I just got fired... Life's fucking great, isn't it?'
"Th..thank you for telling me." I answered, before hanging up.
I stuck my phone back in my pocket, and let my arm fall lifelessly next to my side.
I stood there, looking at the concrete below me for a few moments. Before looking to my right, and seeing a dark alleyway.
"Couldn't be a better time.." I whispered, walking down the alley.
