To put yourself back together
As it does to fall apart"

Alex's P.O.V
The first thing I heard that morning, was the urgent knocking on the door. I jumped out of bed quickly, grabbing both my jacket and dagger. I shrug on my jacket, concealing the dagger in one of its many pockets and head down towards the door.
I usually sleep in my clothes for the next day for two reasons. The first being that it was much easier to get ready in the morning and the second was that in the event that there would be an attack during the night, I would always be prepared.
With one hand on my dagger, I head towards the door, my hand on the handle. Suddenly, I hear a creak on the stairs behind me and turn to find my brother; fear and worry etched on his face. Putting my finger to my lips, I then gesture with the same the hand for him to go back upstairs.
After I hear the slight click of his room door closing, I turn back to the front door. The person on the other side is still knocking continuously. My hand still on my dagger I twist the handle slowly and then yank the door wide open.
"Jace?", I ask confused with his sudden presence at my front door so early in the morning, my grip on my dagger relaxing. If I was to describe Jace for anyone, you could say that he was handsome but I've spent way too much time with him to think that.
He was 6'2 and well built. Which made me feel like a pixie, because although I was pretty lean I was still 5'6 which true, was pretty tall for girls but still made me feel tiny when I was standing next to him.
His hair was a light brown with light flecks of gold. But his most distinguished feature were his dark green eyes. Most of the girls were crazy for him which was funny to watch, because he didn't seem interested in any of them.
"Hey Alex", he said seeming a little distracted, hurriedly stepping into the house.
"What's wrong. Where's Luke?", I demand my senses going into overdrive and my brain jumping to the worst possibilities.
"Don't worry, he's on his way here.", Jace says finally looking at me and smiling, because he knew I was jumping to the worst conclusions.
Jace and Luke were two of my best friends. I didn't get on that well with any of the girls; especially since most of my peers were from The Regalia.
My parents were dead set on giving me and my brother a good education, so they sent us both to the school in The Regalia.
The people that stayed in The Shambles usually didn't have many children, since it was difficult for them to support a large family, so the school in The Shambles wasn't that great.
Since both my brother and I were originally from The Regalia, our grandparents offered to pay for our education and we were generally excepted there because essentially, we were 'one of them'.
I finished school around two years ago when I was sixteen. After school the girls in The Regalia usually just prepared for marriage and keeping house, while the boys apprenticed with their fathers so they could inherit their business when the time came.
