A few hours later, Kelley had convinced Tobin and Christen to let her take them home. They both needed showers since they were still a mess from the accident. They were also going to pack their bags and one for Mal. On the way bag they were going to bring back food for everyone, since it was Christmas Eve.

Ali was lying in the bed with Mal with one arm wrapped around the girl. Mal had her head resting on Ali and Ashlynn sat in the chair next to them, keeping them company. They were watching a Christmas movie when they had all dozed off. It felt good to sleep.

About 30 minutes later, Kelley, Tobin, and Christen walked in with the food. Their hearts melted at the scene in front of them and they were glad to see Mal finally relaxing. When they entered, Ali and Ashlynn woke up but Mal was catching up on much needed sleep.

"We brought food for our Christmas Eve dinner!" Kelley exclaimed being very excited.

"Is Mal allowed to eat after she got her appendix out?" Ashlynn asked a little confused.

"We asked her doctor, he said in a few days her diet will be back to normal but until then she can eat bland foods because her stomach might be upset for a few days" Tobin explained.

"So we got Mal pal some mashed potatoes. We just gotta wait for her to wake up" Christen said.

The others sat around eating their food while talking and watching the movie when Mal finally woke up. Ali was finally able to get off the bed and stretch her muscles.

"Can somebody help me move and adjust myself. My hip and back are killing me" Mal asked. Christen and Ashlynn volunteered since they were sitting next to her. Ashlynn gently lifted her over a few inches while Christen readjusted the pillows behind her. Nobody missed the grimace of pain that flashed across her face when she was moved.

"Mal we brought you some mashed potatoes for dinner. We gotta keep in bland for a few days" Tobin said, encouraging the girl to eat.

"I'm not really hungry but thank you." Mal said quietly.

"Mal, it's good for you to eat, even if it's only a few bites of something. And, if you take a few bites the doctor can give you some pain meds" Christen retaliated. After much convincing they were able to get her to eat a few bites. Christen knew that Mal probably wasn't wanting to eat because she was depressed but she also knew that the girl had to keep looking out for herself or she wouldn't ever recover and get back to soccer. Christen would do everything in her power to save Mal from herself.
