"You're doing what?!" Amalia questioned her best friend, Tara.

"I'm leaving him, A. I can't handle this anymore." Tara replied.

"Why? When?" She asked again.

Tara sighed. "Because I'm not like you, Amalia. I don't have a family friend in this life and I can't handle what Jax is going to have to do. I don't like what being around the club and this town is turning me into. I'm doing it the day before graduation." She explained.

Amalia was silent for a moment.

Tara was right. Amalia was raised in a mob family until she was 15, then her father sent her to live with her "uncle" Tig. She knew how to handle these kinds of people and what they did for a living. Regardless, she met Jax through Tara when she started at Charming High and the two became thick as thieves. The three of them were inseparable and Amalia knew this breakup would kill Jax.

"You're going to dump him before grad? That's pretty harsh, T. Don't get me wrong, I understand why you're doing it, but this is really gonna fuck him up." She expressed.

Tara looked at her again. "I know, but I have to do this. I can do so much better in life and certainly with a better man."

Amalia's head flinched back in shock at her words.

"A better man? Jax treats you like a fucking queen, Tara." She told her defensively.

Tara was her best friend, but Jax was as well and if there was one thing Amalia hated, it was when people disrespected the people she cared about.

"Yeah, choosing the club over me, entertaining crow eaters, doing his mothers bidding and all that shit shows he really cares." Tara rolled her eyes.

Amalia grew more and more impatient. "Watch it, T. You seem to forget, I was raised within the same type of family dynamic, just a touch more serious." She warned.

"Jax has told you multiple times, all he's wanted was a Harley and a patch. He's been working toward that. Secondly, just because he entertains the whores, doesn't mean he's ever cheated. Thirdly, in this type of life, you respect the people who brought you into this world. Especially the mothers." Amalia explained, her Staten Island accent becoming stronger as she continued.

"Either way, I'm ending it, Amalia." Tara ended the conversation.

----

Amalia was standing with her parents in her cap and gown when Jax approached her.

"Hey, congratulations." He smiled, hugging her tightly.

"Thanks, Jax. I'm pretty disappointed you weren't up there with us." She teased lightly.

Jax gave her a playful glare before turning to greet her father and mother.

Her parents loved the Teller-Morrows and their family dynamic and also respected the club and everything they had done for her father, supplying them with guns and information.
