"The results are in. Who will win first prize for best metal?" Varian said, observing steel and iron.
Rose held a vial to her face as if it were a microphone. "Will it be steel, for its durability and thermal conductivity, or iron for its lustrous shine and high melting point?"
Varian did a drum roll on the table, then stood up as Rudiger ran up to him, hot cocoa in hand. Benton tried to follow, but was too small for Rose's cup of hot cocoa. She snickered, then picked up her hot cocoa herself.
"Thank you, Rudiger. This is perfect." Varian did an evil laugh. "Warm cocoa will really hit the spot, thanks bud."
"Oh, hi guys," said a voice from behind. Varian spit out his cocoa to see that it was Rapunzel, followed by Eugene, Max, and Lance.
"Oh, hi. Hi. I wasn't expecting you, so soon." Varian said, setting down his coca. Rose did the same, putting on a nervous smile.
"I mean we did agree that we'd need at least five weeks of solitude to decipher this thing. So I thought we had some-some privacy." Varian started anxiously laughing.
"Aw. Don't be embarrassed," Rapunzel told them.
"Hey, Goggles, real quick," Eugene grabbed Varian by the shoulders. "Do you have any anti-aging alchemy?" He started walking over to a different table. "Maybe some skin-tightening serum?" He opened up a purple liquid, causing purple smoke to erupt throughout the room. Eugene's hair turned white and his skin became wrinkled. "I'm becoming older by the second!" He said, looking at his reflection in the bottle. Lance, Max, Rudiger, and Benton started laughing.
"Please be careful with that stuff, it's very delicate," Varian told them.
"Oh, thank goodness. You have the scroll," Rapunzel said, seeing the scroll hanging up on the wall.
"We do. Oh, we do. And it took a while, but we composed this key to translate the text in its entirety," Varian explained, glancing up at the scroll. Rose soon joined him.
"Guys, you're a genius!" Rapunzel said. "What's it say?"
Varian pointed to the picture of the Sundrop. "This is the healing incantation." Then he pointed to the Moondrop. "This is the decay incantation. And this, haw, is a third incantation. It would allow whoever possesses the moonstone to wield complete control over the black rocks."
"That's why Cassandra wants the scroll," Rapunzel observed.
"Yes, yes, but there's more," Varian said, grabbing the princess's shoulders. "It says here that there's four incantations, not three! But we can't seem to find it anywhere on the scroll." Varian took the scroll off the wall to examine it closer.
"Uh, guys, you might want to stop talking about hmph-mm-hmm, the scroll!" Lance said, pointing up to the top of the stairs. Cassandra stood at the top.
"Don't stop on my account."
"Cass!" Varian yelled.
"Varian, don't get any closer," Rapunzel said, blocking him with her arm. "Hide the scroll. We cannot let her get her hands on that incantation."
"But the scroll is worthless without the translation key," Varian explained.
"Well then, it sounds like I need two things." Cass unsheathed her black rock sword.
"Get that scroll out of here, Blondie, I got this." Eugene, too, unsheathed his sword and ran full speed at Cass. But when he brought his sword down onto her, it shattered into pieces. "Her armor is made out of the rocks-"
Cass pushed him down the stairs, causing him to topple onto Max and Lance. She turned around and cut a large piece of the Demanitus Device off of it, and it came rolling towards Eugene, Max, and Lance. Rose quickly stepped backward, and Rapunzel wrapped her hair around Varian's waist to pull him out of the way.
