Coffee Beans and Chuckles

I looked over at my clock and it was already 6:15am. I was supposed to be up and ready for work 15 minutes ago!

Not good. Not good at all.

I was only 2 weeks into my job at a local coffee shop in central London, and showing up late would probably get me fired.

The people loved their coffee, and if they didn't get their coffee, they'd be upset. If they're upset... Well, you can figure that part out for yourself.

I got out of bed and rushed to throw my hair into a messy bun, sliding on my disgusting polyester uniform with my name tag stuck on it.

Ana. What a boring name.

Three letters seemed like nothing, which is what I was. Nothing. All I did was work at a coffee shop... I didn't contribute to society at all.

I ran in to work and my boss looked at the clock, shaking her head, "You're three minutes late Ana. Be on time or it's coming out of your tips."

I nodded and replied, "Yes ma'am. Sorry about that."

I turned away and rolled my eyes, going to my place behind the cash register to help a thirsty customer.

~Later that day~

Oh great, I only had 30 minutes left in my shift.

My hair was starting to slip out of its bun, my uniform had coffee spilled on it, and I was exhausted.

Today had been extremely busy, and I hadn't even been able to take a break. It was ridiculous. I could probably report that to the health officials (or whoever you report that kind of stuff to), but I figured that I needed this job and it would be a bad idea.

"I'll take an Earl Gray, hot and with a lemon, but not too strong," a deep voice said, causing me to snap out of my thoughts.

"Yes sir. That'll be £3, and it'll be right out." I smiled at him as I looked up, but I froze as soon as I saw who it was.

Benedict Cumberbatch.

He was standing right in front of me.

In the flesh.

Actually there.

Or was I dreaming?

Nope, I wasn't.

He smiled back at me, handed me the money, and then went to sit down and wait for his drink.

I shook my head then went to make his drink, trying to make it perfect. After all, he was Benedict Cumberbatch, and he deserved nothing less.

Just to make him chuckle, instead of writing his name, I wrote: I deduce that this drink is hot. Be careful when you sip it! (;

Hopefully he wouldn't get angry about it, which I didn't think he would. Not with all of the things I'd heard about him.

A minute later, I handed Benedict the tea, smiling nervously. "Here you are sir... Enjoy!"

I ran back to the cash register, trying not to break out into giggles. He was as hot as they said he was.

His cheekbones were so prominent, his hair looked extremely soft, and god, his eyes... Don't even get me started on his eyes. They were indescribable.

A minute later, I heard a monotone chuckle and looked over to see Benedict taking a picture of the message on the cup.

My face went beet red. Oh god, he was going to think I was one of his crazy fangirls, but I wasn't. I admired his work, but I just wasn't one of them. I was just trying to brighten his day.

I watched him walk out of the coffee shop, carefully sipping his tea, and I went back to focusing on my work.

4:27... 4:28... 4:29... 4:30.

Finally. I was out of that place, until tomorrow of course.

~

I took a cab back home using some of my tips from the day, and I collapsed on my bed as soon as I walked in the door.

Ugh. I didn't care that it was only 4:50... I was going to sleep.

I thought I was going to go to sleep, but whenever I closed my eyes, I could just see Benedict Cumberbatch's face.

Soon, I found myself researching more about him, trying to memorize as much as I could in case he came to my coffee shop again someday.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Wow. I didn't think I was going to do it. Another Benedict Cumberbatch fanfiction? What am I doing with my life? I hope this goes somewhere because I have all of these little details and stuff to go into a big plot, and I think it'll be cute.
