The Basement was not a place Jaune felt she ever wanted to return. In fact, it seemed like nearly no one did. Wizardless typewriters clack away in the cramped, airless, windowless basement room until finally the trio found the sigh, The Wand Permit Office, that looked only slightly bigger than a cupboard. Piles and piles of untouched papers Jaune could only assume were wand applications. Scrunching her nose up, she now understood why she had none as they were all unopened.

"Have you been tracking them Second Salemers again?" A man asked with a strong accent. Alistair removes Jaune's arm from Mr Graves to pull her aside, as Mr Graves comes around the corner, "Of course not, sure."

The sound of immediately greeting to Mr Graves echoes from the room, showing he had obvious respect and attention. Alistair turns his sister towards him, ignoring the display of attention that made his fingers itch for it instead of Graves, "What—"

"Mr Graves, sir, this is Mr Scamander — he has a crazy creature in that case and it got out and caused mayhem in a bank, sir." The woman, Goldstein, immediately informed the dark Auror. Speaking quickly to have her case heard, inadvertently gaining the attention of the Ambrosia siblings.

"Scamander?" Alistair asked moving into the room, Jaune following quickly after though hidden behind the tall men inside of the tiny room, "Are you related to Theseus?"

Jaune pushed her brother aside, hearing his grumble at her push only for her to finally look the man in the face. He's much taller than her, like nearly every other man in the tiny room. His brown tousled hair remained the same and his blue eyes still held the same depth of thought and emotion. Only now she remembered and it hit her like the Hogwarts Express. She felt ridiculous to not have remembered him, almost like she hadn't truly seen him. It had been years. Too many years since she last saw him and now, now he was a man.

"Newton Scamander...I..." She began but couldn't find the words, almost like she had no idea that all of this would somehow let them meet even for just one more moment. All he could think about was the sound of his name falling from her lips. He hadn't heard anyone call him by his real name in too many years. Especially, when they fell from the lips of Jaune Ambrosia.

"Theseus' little brother?" Alistair asked ruining the moment. Jaune smiles tersely before taking a step back into her brother's side to create space between herself and Newt, "Yes, Alistair, Theseus's little brother."

Silence fell over the room, Alistair almost seemed in as much shock as Jaune as everyone stared at Newt. He immediately grew irritable under the attention of all eyes, "Well then, let's see the little guys."

Goldstein lets out a breath of relief at finally being heard as Mr Graves encourages Newt to show what's in his case. Newt freezes and Jaune can see the panic inside of him. Mr Graves shakes his head to dismiss him as Goldstein takes his case and theatrically places it onto a table before throwing open the lid. Instead of a smug or joyful expression, Jaune thought would appear on her face, instead, it was the opposite.

Inside the case was not a creature that caused mayhem, instead, it was a case full of pastries. Frowning down at case, glancing at Mr Graves confused expression with a slight smirk, Jaune's eyes observe Newt and for once her stomach dropped to the floor. Mr Graves shares a glance with Alistair before gesturing he leave before him.

Goldstein and Newt share a look. Jaune's hand gently takes the sleeve of Newt closest arm, his eyes immediately looking down at her. Before any words escape her mouth Alistair clears his throat, taking away her attention. Silently she gives them a terse smile before letting go. Feeling his eyes following after her before Mr Graves places a soft hand on the small of her back.

Alistair is quick to refute this as he wraps an arm over her shoulders. Pulling her close to under his arm. The elevator is quiet and the ride if short as they walk into the main entrance of MACUSA. Mr Graves stands in front of them, ready for a speech before Jaune interrupts him again, "Yes, Mr Graves, I think my brother and I should return home. I'm feeling tired and would like to write a letter to my mother. Good day."

Mr Graves raises an eyebrow before nodding in understanding, allowing Alistair a firm shake before they descend the stairs walking out of the MACUSA building. Crowds rushed past them, cars honking in the distance while engines sputtered past them. The siblings walk in silence, side by side, listening to the world around them.

"You are truly an enigma you know that?" Alistair finally said out into the air, their pace slow as they walked through the march of people.

"That's a big word brother." Jaune smiled to herself, the puffskein in her pocket thrilling in happiness as her finger strokes it's head. Alistair rolls his eyes and nudges her shoulder as he shoves his hands into his pants pockets. The walk home is hardly what she wanted to do. Jaune didn't trust she would be kept in the loop about this creature, nor that they could figure it out. If she didn't trust her own Ministry to figure something out she wasn't about to trust another.

The walk is long and filled with detours but Alistair remained silent beside his sister. Every step bringing them closer to the darkness of night, the street lamps eventually flickering on. Turning a corner, Jaune falls onto her butt when something blue hits her square in the forehead. In a shout of shock, she sits herself up on her elbows to look around at the quiet streets. Alistair crouches down to grab her arms in an attempt to help her up, only he pauses.

"What's wrong?" She asked him before following his gaze. Looking to her right, beneath a nearby stand, sounds of distressed buzzes catch her attention. Slowly she peeks under the stand only to sit up in shock, her head almost colliding with Alistair's. Quietly, Jaune gives Plum to her brother without a word, to place into his pocket, along with her wand to squish into his wand pocket, before taking off her apron.

Placing her hands in each pocket she reaches under the stand to quickly pull the large bug towards her. Her eyes widen in shock has it's confirmed what is in her palms, "A Billywig?"

Alistair stares down at the distressed bug as his sister delicately covers it to ensure it doesn't jump away. All the while hoping not to get stung. Quickly the siblings stand up leaving any curious muggles eyeing them behind before disappearing into a nearby alley. Lit only just by a nearby streetlamp.

"I know there are no Billywigs in America," Alistair informed her, "Otherwise I would have collected them by now to send to Theseus."

Jaune rolls her eyes at her brother before revealing the blue distressed bug. One of the wings is damaged, bent a little wrong. It buzzes in anger and irritation as it tries to sting her but Jaune pays it no mind. Her delicate fingers inspecting its injured wing.

"Are you really sure you can save it?" He asks tentatively, eyeing it warily as it attempts to sting his sister, wondering if he'll have to drag her home — mid-flight.

"Of course," She told him with an eye roll before gently grabbing the bug, "We're close to home anyways. Come along."

Alistair allows his own long steps to stretch naturally beside his sister, as her own little legs worked quicker in an attempt to reach home.
