The valley of the dead. Surrounded by rotting skeletons and broken skulls, Mataka navagates the gloomy valley with her newly crafted sword in hand. Mataka stumbles upon a deep dark cave, hollow and dank.
"I dare not blink when staring in the Abyss. The light always burns the darkness away." Mataka takes out a stone and she places it around her neck. As she goes into the cave, the stone begins to glow a bright shade of blue, illuminating her surroundings in the cave.
Mataka slowly travles deep into the cave, hearing the drop of water hit the ground. The quiet wind soflty blows the cool air across her skin.
"You who have come here, you have reached a point where you will not survive this. If you wish to continue, you must first get past me." A raspy voice echoes through the walls of the cave, putting Mataka on notice.
Mataka shines her stone light in front of her to reveal an albino woman with little clothing, and bandages around her neck. In her hand is a spear, carved out of what appears to be solid bone.
"Reveal your name to me strange one." Mataka demands her.
"I am the one called U'kshin. I have been cursed with eternal blindness, banished to this wretched cave in this unholy valley. For a long time, I have learned to enhance my other senses, for one who only uses sight to see, loses sight of their soul." Mataka looks on at the one called U'kshin, put off by her appearance, but prepared and ready.
"You are on a journey of self forgivness and self redemption for your soul. Your journey will end in blood and death. If I were you, I would turn back now, before this journey destroys your very soul." U'kshin warns her.
"Never. I will not rest until my journey is finished!" Mataka readies her weapon, challenging the blind being to a fight with her.
"Very well, this battle will not end well for you! For you shall die at my hands!" U'kshin charges at her with blinding speed, tackling her into the walls of the cave. As Mataka gets to her feet, she tries to strike U'kshin with her sword, but she is slashed in the left arm and right leg by the blind being. U'kshin kicks Mataka in the face, sending her once again into the cave wall.
As blood runs down the side of her face, Mataka once again gets back to her feet. As she tries to attack with her sword once again, U'kshin hits her with her bone staff twice, following up with a uppercut to the chin.
"You're a slow learner aren't you warrior, your eyes deceive you, do not rely on human sight in this noment!" Mataka gets to her knees and she goes over what U'kshin boasted. As she gets to her feet, she takes a piece of her clothing and she places it around her eyes.
"You are catching on, but it won't save you from death!" U'kshin dashes away again, while Mataka stands in the middle of the cave. She cocks her head to the left, hearing footsteps come her way.
As soon as U'kshin gets near her, she is met with a fist from Mataka and a slash of her sword across her pale white back. U'kshin screams in pain as she quickly bleeds from her back. Mataka hears her scream as she walks towards her.
She quickly grabs her by the neck, robbing her of her oxygen. In one brutal motion, Mataka viciously snaps her neck, paralyzing her.
"I... am impressed... you have defeated me. In doing so, you have set my soul free. For many years I have lived with this curse, having to survive in this land, from the people who come here." U'kshin says, through pain.
"My spear, was carved out the bones of my victims, this weapon has tasted blood on many of men and women that have traversed this cave. Now, the weapon is yours to take." U'kshin says to Mataka.
"Fierce warrior, what is your name?" U'kshin asks.
"It's Mataka..." she softly replies.
"A fierce name, for such a proud warrior. Here brave Mataka, take my staff, hardened by the blood of it's victims, it shall aid you on your quest. Be forwarned Mataka, the rest of your journey, will be perilous. If you complete this journey, you may not be the same person." U'kshin says with her final breath.
"I am fine with that condition..." Mataka says, grabbing the spear as she watches U'kshin's soul ascend to the spirit realm. The cave begins to vibrate and shake and a hole opens at the far side of the cave exposing a beam of light. Mataka goes toward the light, emerging on a pathway towards a rainforest.
Meanwhile, in another part of the valley, Katu and her three fellow tribe members follow a trail of footsteps.
"These are the footsteps of Ka'Nakhu blood. She has been here." One of the tribe women say.
"We are right on her trail, Klashin. Go and follow the Shaman and bring her back to me, alive! I want to kill her myself!" Katu orders her fellow tribe member.
"Yes my leader..." Klashin says.
