Night falls once again. Mataka continues to walk on the path to the next location that she is destined to go. As she continues to walk, she can feel a chill run through her skin.
She observes her surroundings, wondering where this chill is eminating from. She looks over to her left and she sees a bright blue swirling vortex.
"What in the gods names?" Mataka reaches her hands through the Vortex, feeling a dash of cold air come through the portal.
"I guess this is where I must go next, whatever is behind this portal, is either a pathway to heaven, or to hell." Mataka slowly goes through the portal, feeling the rush of cold air run through her body.
Stepping through the portal, Mataka stands around a field of crystalized snow. As the snow falls slowly around her, a figure in a white robe approaches her.
"Hello Mataka, I have been expecting you. Please follow me." The figures voice has a calm demeanor, almost warm but steady stream, like a quiet river in a forest.
Mataka follows the mysterious figure, wondering where are they going. Moments later, they approach a crystal like fort that glows with strong energy. Stepping inside, Mataka feels the strong power of the fort surround her.
"I am humbled to make your acquaintance, please sit." Mataka slowly sits in front of the mysterious figure.
"Rest assured, I am not here to fight you. I am rather here to help you on your quest. The wounds on your body are key tellings of your quest. Indeed it is perilous for you." The mysterious figure says.
"Who are you? And how do you know my name?" Mataka asks.
"My name is Lak'nar, I have been in touch with the spirits about you. Your journey of redemption, has taken a physical toll on you, but you still press on like a true warrior." Lak'nar takes off the hood of his robe and he shows his face to Mataka.
"You're different from the other monsters I've come into contact with, you look ordinary." Mataka says to him.
"Some monsters have inner turmoil, a deformity in their soul. I was cursed by the gods, my soul crystalized in ice. But, I accepted my penance for killing countless mortals." Lak'nar says.
"You have killed your fair share of mortals, and you shall kill more as your journey nears it's climax. After you depart this place, there will be only one test left..." Mataka looks up at Lak'nar.
"What is it?" She asks.
"What lies at the end will be a battle with the strongest of all the cursed, a battle to the death against a beast named T'kru'Kaishi. A beast that holds the power of thunder and lightning at his disposal. He will be your greatest challenge." Mataka looks down at her hands, covered in the dried blood of her enimies thus far.
"The journey will be done, and my darkness will be absolved. I will finish what I came to do!" Mataka softly boasts.
"Very well, however, you must show me that you are willing to pay the ultimate price. Cast aside your doubts and fears, and accept the possibility of death." Lak'nar says to her. He then offers her a drink full of glowing blue liquid. As she gazes at the crystal like glass, she can sense immense power crawling from the liquid.
"Mataka... I want to see... show me." Mataka looks up at Lak'nar for a monent, and she drinks the liquid in one swift motion. As she swallows the liquid, she begins to writhe in immense pain. As she rolls on the snowy ground, the marks on her skin glow, absorbing the liquids power.
As Mataka struggles to get to her feet, the searing pain grows even more intense, but Mataka battles through the pain and she lets out a primal scream as the power fully merges with her blood, making the pain stop.
"You have passed this test, but your last challenge will be unlike any hell you've experienced." Lak'nar informs her.
"I have been through hell before, and I have shown them who owns the deepest darkest pits of the inferno! I will bring hell to anyone who stands in my way!" Mataka growls.
"Then warrior, I wish you the best on your journey. I am now free to pass on to the spirit world, you have set me free by passing this test." Lak'nar let's out a flash of light, blinding Mataka.
Moments later, Mataka wakes up on a rocky road. As she gets to her feet, she looks at her hands as they are covered with ice. As she extends her hand out, she blasts a beam of ice onto a tree.
"By the gods... this will come in handy for me!" She says to herself.
