Reporters were trooping out of the house, the McHardy couple had held a press conference early that morning to announce the disappearance of both their children.
Evelyn couldn't stop crying, she felt so sad.
"It'll be fine Eve, we'll find them soon"
"You know, I'm so confused right now. They... they left on their own, and neither of them has bothered to contact us. What if they've decided to cut ties with us? They may be alright and just, refusing to speak to us"
"Come on, how can you even say that?"
He looked at his pitiful wife then took a deep breath
"Everything will be fine" he said,
"I believe so"
He patted her on the shoulder and left. Few minutes later, Pat, the maid, joined her.
"Should I get you something to drink ma'am?" She asked, Evelyn shook her head tiredly.
"It'll be alright ma'am"
"You know Pat, Ivan isn't one to stay away for long without dropping his location. I mean with Irene, I'm used to that but just not Ivan. I am so terrified right now, what if something bad happened?"
"I totally understand how you feel. You know, 6 years ago, a little before I started to work here, My son had an accident, a really terrible one. I was totally devastated back then, the doctors said he had a very slim chance of survival. But, I never gave up, I prayed furiously for him to recover. It took 4 whole years, I almost gave up but I didn't and today, he's in college. Don't lose hope ma'am, you'll find them"
"Thank you Pat" she said as she dabbed at her tears,
"I wish I could be strong like you"
Pat gave her hand a squeeze and smiled at her.
"You know Pat, surprisingly, I miss Irene so very much. That girl, she's a lot of work" Evelyn chuckled and so did Pat.
"She sure is" Pat added
"Since they were babies, Ivan has always been the calm one, she, the total opposite. It got worse as she grew, she was always in one trouble or the other. The week they turned 19,  she was rushed to a hospital, she'd passed out after drinking a whole bucket of alcohol. After that was handled, I thought she'd learn her lesson but the following week, she was arrested for punching an officer on patrol. After I bailed her out, I asked why she did that, you know what she said?
'I only wanted to see what he'd do and besides, you should be proud of me. Not every 19 years old has the guts to punch an officer'
I was so shocked. Its actually funny now that I think of it"
Pat giggled,
"I'll be back ma'am, I've got food on fire"
