At long last the spring had arrived, breathing warm winds over the life-budding landscape. The frozen grasses soon became filled with pulsating life, vibrant green covering every surface. The trees spread wide, leaves and blossoms erasing the memory of their wintry self. The last parts of snow had long since vanished and the lakes thawed, their waters glistening under the bright sunlight.
The strong winds carried the fresh smell of cherry blossoms and that was the one thing that really gave light to the change of seasons.
He stood, leaned against his balcony's rails, staring out at the village before him. Everything seemed to be budding with life, as if a new era had started. No longer was there white steam with each breath he exhaled. No longer was the frostiness of the air freezing his lungs still.
It felt... relieving for the winter to pass.
"Aizen! Obito is here!" His brother's voice carried through the house, reaching the balcony where he stood.
That's right... He almost forgot about that.
Reluctantly pulling away, he tore his gaze away from the sight of the village and stepped back into his room, sliding the balcony door shut.
_
"I was waiting for forever~" The dark-haired boy whined out as soon as Aizen stepped outside. He had an angry, fake of course, expression as he mock glared at Aizen.
The blond found it utterly endearing, "Yeah, yeah. My bad." He shook his head, lips curling in amusement. The air smelled of flowers and wet grass and he relished in it. It had rained the previous night and almost everything was damp. From the corner of his eye, he noticed small water drops dripping down the vibrant grass, joining the small puddles which collected under it, "Are you coming?" He gestured to the side, towards the open fields and stepped past the other boy.
"Yes, of course!" Obito nodded, walking after him with a light skip in his step.
He really was excited, wasn't he?
_
Aizen almost laughed when he saw the light pink petals stuck in Obito's hair, "Those suit you." He teased, not making any move to help the boy get rid of them.
Obito huffed, shaking his head, trying to get rid of the small blossoms, "Get them out~!" He wiggled in place, desperately trying to free himself from them.
"Nuh-uh!" Aizen raised his arms in an X, "You're on your own there, buddy!" He grinned, Obito's indignant cries resounding through his ears, "It doesn't matter, come on, you wanted to show me something!" Not waiting for a second, he grabbed hold of Obito's wrist and pulled him along.
The boy spluttered incoherent words, before Aizen barely understood a few of them, "But...! What if Rin sees me like this?!" He argued, but didn't struggle against Aizen's hold.
"Come on! So what? You're cute like that, maybe it'll get her to notice you more!" He peered back at Obito, his grin ever-present.
Obito flushed, "Aizen!" He groaned out, covering his face with his free hand. His onyx irises slid to the side, avoiding Aizen's own, cerulean ones.
"Don't be embarrassed and move it!"
Really, the scene of the two of them running through the streets of Konoha was nothing new to the village's inhabitants. It was a rather normal scene to them, one they got used to.
The two of them raced, hand in hand, across the fields, the cherry blossoms still stuck in Obito's hair, laughter filling the air around them. It had been a while since Aizen felt like he didn't have to pretend. When he was with Obito, there was no need for him to pretend to be fine.
