Jessie's phone pinged, it was her agent and friend Sara, she couldn't make it tonight. Jessie groaned out loud. The plan had been that Sara would be Jessie's 'date' to the masquerade, it was for charity. Alot of famous faces would be attending, there was to be an auction and a dinner.

"Hey." Sara's voice came through the earpiece, she sounded groggy and unwell. "I'm sorry to do this too you at such short notice."

"Oh no, what's up?"

"I can't make it tonight, I'm so sorry, please forgive me." Sara sounded flustered, preparing herself for a tirade of abuse.

"Ah damn, really. What's wrong, you okay? You sound a bit off." Jessie sighed, feeling let down.

"I think I ate something funny. I was gonna call you sooner but I fell asleep and I've only just woke up. I'm so sorry honey."

"No. Don't worry about it. It's fine. It's not your fault." Jessie checked the time. She was due to be picked up soon.

"I hope you enjoy your evening, let me know how it goes. I really am sorry." Sara says, her voice tight, Jessie hears her gag in the distance.

"I hope you feel better soon. I'll call you later."

"Me too. Send me pics. Sorry again." Sara hangs up before Jessie can hear her vomit everywhere.

Now sitting on the edge of her bed in a beautiful backless dress, due to be picked up in a matter of minutes, Jessie was feeling deflated. Her hair and makeup had been done superbly. She couldn't waste the effort that had been made, so she still had to go out. The charity the masquerade was raising funds for was also an important cause to her, she couldn't not go.

Rising from the bed and making her way to the hall, Jessie grabbed her purse, making sure the key to her hotel room (that had been booked earlier that day) was inside, and mask from the side table. A ring of the doorbell seconds later indicted it was time to go.

The foyer area was bustling, there were many bodies trying to navigate the cameras being shoved in their faces. Jessie managed to dodge past a few of them before the flashes started to click in her face, she posed for a few moments, occasionally lifting her mask up, before entering the next room. Thankfully this area was calm and free from any press. Making her way over to a waitress, Jessie eagerly grabbed a glass of champagne from the tray. The waitress politely smiled and nodded her head.

Seeing a seating plan propped up over by a set of double doors, Jessie made her way over, careful not to stumble in her delicate heels. Sipping on her champagne she finds her name.

As Jessie browses the other names sitting at her table, she senses a body behind her. Turning her head to the side a tall dark haired man comes to stand beside her. He's sporting a sprinkling of facial hair, she notices. He's wearing an expertly fitted black tuxedo, a crisp white shirt sat underneath and a black tie. He looked perfect. Shaking away her thoughts, Jessie brought her attention back to the seating plan. She was to be seated next to a 'Sebastian Stan', an empty seat on her other side as Sara wasn't there. Jessie didn't have time to see who else would be attending that she may know, as more people entered the room, eager to also take a look at the seating arrangements. The handsome gentleman from earlier was still beside her, their eyes met as they both turned to walk in the same direction. Jessie shared a small smile with him as they walked together.
