Bright lights shined in my eyes as I squinted hard to see anything else. Shadows moved in the corner, shifting around as if impatient.
I tried to sit up but leather belts kept me bound to the table. Panicking I struggle against the restraints my face twisting with pain as they cut into my skin.
Looking over I see a table on my left and on my right. On the right one laid a girl with brown hair, but not moving.
One of the shadows slides out from the corner and walked towards me, the light from above me illuminates his face.
"Who are you?" I asked, my voice gravely from lack of water. A man with bright blue hair and black clothes stood beside me, looking down with green eyes.
"My name is David, or Senon as I would prefer to be called." Senon said with a deep voice. "Destiny?" He guessed, eyebrows raised.
I nodded my head, not trusting my voice. Senon must have noticed because he searched my face and said: "Need a glass of water?" Again I nodded in a response.
He walked over to a small table in the corner of the room and grabbed the glass pitcher and poured out the clear liquid into a short glass.
My eyes wandered and inspected the room. It was a plain room with grey walls and the floor was filled with metal tables, leather straps dangling off their sides. The room was small with only two lights shining it made it look even smaller.
Cabinets lined the back wall with a sink in the middle of two of them. There were small rolling tables beside each longer table. Next to me was one of those but on it was several instruments: a scalpel, a what looked a needle gun, and a tattooing instrument.
Senon walked back over and placed the glass to my lips and tipped since I was still strapped to the table. The cool water chilled my dry throat, making me close my eyes with relief.
When the water was gone I was finally able to speak. Senon placed the glass back on the table, turned back to me and said: "So Destiny, what is your power?"
"What?" I said trying to sound like I didn't know what he was talking about. This guy, I didn't trust him from the moment I saw I was strapped to a table.
"You know what I mean." He said with a slight hint of anger. "I felt a strong aura around you when you were brought here, you radiated strong powers." He continued.
"I have no idea what you are talking about." I lied. Senon took two fast steps and slammed both of his hands on the table narrowly missing my shoulders. I shrank back in fear.
"Don't play dumb with me Tansy! I know who you are and what you can do!" He screamed, and reached behind him to pull out a wicked looking dagger. He pushed my sleeve up to expose the bare skin.
Bringing the dagger down to my skin he made a gentle sawing motion, making blood bubble over the skin. Being a small cut it healed quite quickly.
"Just what I thought. Immortality. You know, you are a very important girl Destiny." Senon said as he wiped down the blade with a piece of cloth.
"How am I important?" I asked, truly wondering what he is talking about.
"With your powers no one in the world would ever have diseases or die." He went on to say. "You and this girl here." He said gesturing to the girl that laid on the opposite table.
"Watch this. Number 51, you are called to action." Senon barked out the orders, and the girl rose up from her lying position and jumped off the table. Her brown eyes were blank as if nobody was home.
"Number 51 show our guest what you can do." He told the girl. For a moment nothing happened. Then I heard a clear and distinctive female voice in my head.
"It's okay. We are going to get out of here." The girl looked at me, blinked, and collapsed on the ground. I look at Senon in horror.
"What have you done? You are controlling her!" I yelled, watching the girl who just spoke inside my mind lie on the ground motionless.
"There are a few flaws in the program for now, but this is helping us harness their powers and use them for good." He stated looking at the girl and picking her up by the arms and pacing her back on the table. Apparently not trusting her, he strapped her onto the table just like me.
"You were brought here for this reason. But there are several things that need to be done in order to make sure you do as told." Grabbing the tattooing instrument he approached me.
He gripped my neck and forced it to the side. I heard a soft whirring noise and felt a sharp poke on the back of my neck. My heart wanted to beat out of my chest, I could hear it in my head.
The back side of my neck burned as Senon drew on the skin with the needle. Then the poking and sharp pains stopped, and Senon appeared again.
"There. Now you are officially one of the Crows." He smiled at me and set down the instrument, in turn grabbed the needle gun looking thing.
"Just one last thing. This one will really hurt." Senon said with no sympathy.
Flipping around my arm, he found a dark blue vein that stood out from my pale skin. He pulled the skin with his thumb and gently slid the needle in.
I felt it move around underneath my skin, making me want to throw up. He pulled the trigger and the liquid from the barrel get pushed into the vein.
Senon pulled out the needle in one fluid motion, and sat back to watch the show. The pain came sharp and hard.
It felt like someone was slicing me open from the inside. It coursed all throughout my body, there wasn't a place on me that didn't scream in pain.
I let out a cry of agony and gripped the table. Senon stood by smiling, loving to see me squirm like a bug he just stepped on.
The pain stopped and the word went dark. My consciousness slipping between my fingers.
I am number 68, and I am a Crow.
