Harumi's POV

I walk through the halls after school with a purpose. I go through every single hallway looking for one person. I check around every corner, and they're not there. I groan.

The person I need to find is Lloyd. I still need to complete that stupid dare from Skylor's initiation party. All of the girls know that I haven't done it yet, but we aren't telling the boys that I'm going to join. They don't need to know. It'll only be a short amount of time. Then, I'll leave their little gang and come back to the life I love.

When I spot Lloyd, he's hanging out behind the bleachers, no one else around. His back is to me, but I can tell it's him from the jacket and the messy blonde hair. There aren't a lot of blondes at our school, and even at that, most of them are sandy blonde. Lloyd has pure blonde hair; not as pure as mine, but still blonde.

I come up behind behind him. He's looking at his phone, and all of the worry is off his face. He seems calm. To get his attention, I tap his shoulder, which turns out to be a mistake. Not even facing me, he grabs one of my wrists, turning me around. He grabs my other wrists and instinctively pushes me against a pole.

When he sees it's me, he groans and lets me go,"Don't sneak up on me."

"I tapped your shoulder. That's not sneaking up on you," I cross my arms.

He glares at me, leaning against the pole,"If you're trying to get me to sleep with you like you did two years ago, it's a hard no."

Now, it's my turn to glare,"Trust me, not a single bone in my body wants that anymore." That's a lie. He is still attractive, if not more, but I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of letting him know that.

"Then what do you want? Don't you have a football game to go to?" he gestures to my cheerleading uniform.

"I want to join the Sons of Garmadon," I inform him. He starts hysterically laughing.

"Nice joke. Now, what do you actually want?" he looks up at me with those emerald green eyes. While my eyes are green, his are exponentially more intense.

"I told you what I want," I answer him.

His eyes widen,"You're serious?" I nod. "Well too bad, because that's not happening."

I automatically flare up,"Why not?" I stomp my foot on the ground.

"In the Sons of Garmadon, we're a family. We value unity, honesty, and selflessness, which are all traits I doubt you've ever thought about. Plus, we don't take people with obvious ulterior motives," he explains to me, pride in his voice. When he goes to turn away, I attempt to grab his wrist, but he jerks it away as if he sensed me coming. "You're very predictable."

"Please, hear me out," I plead, trying to rack my brain for ideas. He turns back to face me, an expectant look on his face. "I have to put on a pretty smile for everyone, but I want a place where I can be myself. I want people who won't judge me, because even though I love my friends, they are super judgmental. I can't let my guard down at all, or else someone will try to challenge me. My 'dictatorship' as you put it isn't just for fun. If I don't intimidate them, then they'll try to take my role, and I worked too hard to get to this point."

Lloyd's face is flooded with empathy. "I understand that completely. Sometimes people try to threaten me in order to climb the hierarchy that I've tried to destroy, but then I have to put them in their place, and I feel super guilty after." He closes his eyes and sighs. "I'm going to hate myself for this later."

"Are you letting me in?" my face lights up. I'll be able to complete my dare and prove to the girls I'm unstoppable.

"Are you willing to dedicate yourself to this group? We're a family."
