We were all seated on the seats of the gym. Each class and grade in one section of the seats.

We had all gone up after an announcement explaining the rules and things about the students from the other school.

On our side were students from my school and opposite us were students from the other school.

Each grade was given bright neon ribbons to show which grade you are from. I had a bright neon green ribbon tied to my wrist while some used the ribbon to tie their hair.

The gym was filled with chatter and laughter. It was a hullabaloo. Music was streaming from the speakers quite loudly adding to the already noisy gym.

The class advisors were also given ribbons. I could see Mr. Cale talking to another teacher I recognized only because of events like this. She had a bright pink ribbon tied to her wrist; the other schools seniors color. Her blue green eyes and black hair made her stand out from the crowd.

I looked to my left. I was not surprised to see Lily making faces at Kaliya and Patrick being the overly affectionate couple they were. I could tell Lily and the people surrounding them all felt extremely single.

They were taking selfies with our other friends and with us, I would occasionally pose for the pictures.

"I swear those two will never get out of the honeymoon phase," Lily said as she turned away from the couple.

"Please. You're just jealous you don't have someone to be all lovey-dovey with," I said with a grin on my face.

"Excuse you but you don't have one either," She said smacking the back of my head.

"Hey!" I said blocking her hand from trying to smack me again.

"You know Nick still likes you," I said.

The thought had suddenly come to mind and I blurted it out without thinking.

"I know."

"Wait, you know?" I asked, my eyes widening.

"Yeahhh..." She said awkwardly looking away.

"How did yo-," I tired to say but was cut off by the speaker.

"Alright everyone. Funfest 2020 officially starts now," Ms. Vailae, the mc for this year, said into her microphone.

Cheers erupted from both sides of the gym, this was a really big gym to hold so many students.

"First off, lets start with Rapid Relay," She said and then went to explain how to play the game.

"Rapid Relay players need to get down from their seats and line up to enter the gym," Camilla, our class president, said.

"Patrick let's go," I said and he finally stopped taking selfies with Kaly.

I don't know how she manages to keep her phone storage from exploding. She takes at least 500 selfies with Patrick every week.

"Okay, Maddie, if I really do fall on my face please drag me to my mom. She'll mail me to Canada and I'll start a new life living with my Uncle Paps. Got that?" He said all in one breath.

"Uh yeah," I said patting his shoulder while giving him a half confused and half 'okay sure' look.

"Alright. Ready. Steady. Go!" Ms. Vailae said.

The person in front of me sprinted forward. The audience went wild, screaming for their class to hurry up and win. I watched Samantha, I think was her name, nervously as she zigzagged through the bright orange cones. She grabbed the hula hoop from the floor and spun it around her waist though to our dismay she didn't know how to use the hula hoop and it fell on the floor with a crack.
