"Psst! Hey Adrien!"
Adrien perked his head to the sound of his name called from behind him. He was currently catching up on some school work that he had missed while being away for the annual fencing tournament. As expected (especially by his father), he won, fair and square.
There, he turned his body to face Alya, who cocked her eyebrow at her sleeping friend and silently suggested something that Adrien couldn't seem quite get at first.
"Let's have some fun with the sleepy head."
Marinette, the unfortunate sleepy head, napped soundly with her thick clear drool hanging from the corner of her mouth. Poor girl, must have been from staying up brainstorming for some good designs, or perhaps she was already making the design without realizing the time had already went by. Adrien wouldn't be too surprised if all Marinette did for an entire night was go on a movie marathon on a weekday with just herself and her big tub of mango and peach flavoured ice cream. Well...Chat Noir wouldn't that is.
On his patrol nights he'd often hear Marinette singing to Clara Nightingale, despite of it being muffled through closed windows.
In fact, Adrien could just make out the same song playing in Marinette's earphones from the other night, and assumed that Clara was her current obsession.
"Do you think Marinette would mind?" Adrien asked. He wouldn't want to upset his good friend after pulling that prank on her at the wax museum. She seemed really upset about it.
"Trust me, she'll have a laugh about this later."
Oh...okay. Adrien forced a smile despite of still being completely unsure about the idea to basically prank Marinette again. "What are we supposed to do?"
"Well...as we all know, Marinette has the tendency to fall asleep in every situation she could get. So, to make up for that, I came up with a little challenge."
It seemed to Adrien that his seat mate (and best mate) Nino Lahiffe, who was already tuning in eagerly, already knew about this challenge that Alya was yet to explain to the blonde. In fact, Adrien felt that the entire class knew about it except for him.
"It started when you were away for that fencing tournament—" ah, that explains it, "—and I came up with the idea after what happened at Startrain."
The Startrain moment, when the whole class went on an excursion to London to spend an entire day sight-seeing and visiting notable monuments around the city. Although, Adrien was caught sneaking out to join his school into going and was being escorted home by the Gorilla and Nathalie, he still had a fantastic day.
The train ride in particular was one of the highlights, although that morning, Adrien was too exhausted from battling an akuma alongside Ladybug late the night before. He did recall Marinette's head lolling and eventually resting on Adrien's shoulder moments after Alya requested for a seat swap. Immediately, warmth filled Adrien's chest at the memory of him and Marinette catching a couple of needed Z's together.
