Marinette totally screwed it up big time! She can't believe she let her own out-of-control mouth do the blabber and now Adrien thinks she has no feelings for him!

"I don't know what to do, Tikki," Marinette sunk on her bench seat, her hands still covering most of her ashamed face. "I can't just go up to Adrien now and take back what I said!"

"You could do that, you know?" Tikki suggested.

"But how? All I'm ever good at is stuttering over my words whenever I'm around him. I never get my message across. Maybe we were just...not meant to be," she sighed and stood to meet up with Alya and Manon chasing each other around the merry-go-round.

"Come on, Manon. Your mum should be finished with her work by now."

"Aw Marinette! We didn't get to grab some ice cream," Manon whined.

Marinette forced a smile at the child, "I'll promise a double scoop the next time your mum leaves you with me, and then we can ride the carousel as many times as you'd like."

"Ooh! Yippee!" Manon clapped her hands enthusiastically. Marinette offered her hand for Manon to hold before their walk to the news studio.

"Thanks for coming along, Alya. You sure made babysitting easier for me."

"Don't sweat it, girl. Glad I could catch up today. Plus, you got yourself some alone time with mysterious snake man. Speaking of, did you guys hit it off?"

Marinette could gladly say the opposite. But Alya didn't need to know about how the conversation ended so awkwardly, and how Marinette knew that Aspik was in fact Adrien. The only other person who knows about their identity was Ladybug, and she can't afford to have her cover blown over.

"It ended quite abruptly, but it was a lovely chat. I don't know if I'll get another chance to talk to him though," and Marinette meant that both figuratively and literally.

"We won't know for sure, but life likes to work in mysterious ways," Alya winked.

"I guess," Marinette shrugged, "anyway, I got to go, I can't be late in handing this little rascal over."

"Hey! I heard that!" Manon bellowed, who had been eavesdropping on their conversation.

Alya and Marinette waved goodbye as they moved on their separate ways. Marinette then walked Manon back to the news studio which was just two short blocks away.

"Who is that guy at the park?" Manon curiously asked.

"Who? Aspik? He's just an old friend of mine. He saved me from Desperada when she was akumatized by Hawk Moth!" explained Marinette.

"Woah, that must be scary."

Marinette chuckled, considering that she was in fact in her Ladybug guise when she was with Aspik at the time. Still, she counted the amount of times Aspik apparently saved her from the akuma. His determination to save her at all costs still got her swooning just at the simple thought of it.
