"this is bullshit!" jungkook threw the matchbox away frustratingly. chaeyoung just sat there on the grass of the park, looking down and not saying anything. there was nothing left to say. it has been almost a week of him trying to break their bond, and nothing has worked. and it won't, chaeyoung knew that. jungkook did too. she didn't understand why he's still trying, but one thing was sure, that he still didn't want her.

"death can't be the only way…" he muttered, angrily sitting besides her. she didn't reply. she had nothing to tell him. her days were like this nowadays. jungkook will come back from his work in the evening and call her up so he can try some way to cut their string. he doesn't know that she goes home crying everyday, or that her friends are worried that she isn't eating as much as before anymore. she just assumed he doesn't care. why would he? he's the one willing to let her go. it's her that is stupidly attached to him still.

they sat in silence on the soft green grass under the dusk sky. the sky was beautiful, unlike the situation they're both in. chaeyoung was sitting expressionless. jungkook glanced towards her and a sharp pain enveloped his heart as he saw her colourless face. he remembers when she looked bright and cheerful. he has seen some of her pictures, and he hasn't seen a sweeter looking face. but ever since she has met him, she has been looking nothing but sad. another reason why he thinks breaking the bond is the better option. at least she'll be happy without him.

"I'm sorry." the words escaped his lips before he had the chance to stop them. chaeyoung didn't look at him, but heaved a sigh.

"does it matter what I think anymore?" she asked. jungkook didn't answer. of course it matters. but after everything, maybe his words don't mean enough to her anymore.

her pained face is causing him unrest. maybe… just maybe…

"do you have any plans after this?" he asked.

chaeyoung furrowed her eyebrows, and finally looked at him. "why?"

"well, I'm free right now and since i have caused you much pain, let me treat you tonight." he said, smiling softly at her.

chaeyoung kept staring at him and he totally understands if she doubts him. he has done nothing to gain her trust either.

"I mean, we're still soulmates. bond hasn't been broken yet." he quickly said. "so, we can hang out a little. we'll feel better."

chaeyoung played with her fingers as she thought over it, and jungkook noticed her internal debate.

"it's ok if you don't want to. I've been mean to you. but don't let your anger get in the way of you eating nice food which I'm paying for." jungkook said, hoping it was convincing enough.

there was still a silence and jungkook assumed that maybe chaeyoung was done with him totally to even consider him as an acquaintance. but then…

"fine." came an answer from her. "but you have to pay for everything."
