"it's such a beautiful night." chaeyoung said as they sat the riverbank again. this time she was sitting in between his legs as her back rested against his chest. she was so small compared to him, he could easily rest his chin on her head.

"you're more beautiful." he said, and he knew chaeyoung was blushing pink. she always gets flustered when he compliments her. it's cute, in his opinion.

it was a comfortable silence that enveloped their atmosphere. chaeyoung admired their hands intertwined together by the red string which shone like silk.

"jungkook…" she called. he hummed in response and she debated whether she should ask the question that's been bothering her this entire time.

"what is it?" he asked.

"are you really happy?"

jungkook tilted his head to look at her and found chaeyoung looking back at him with a serious look on her face.

"yes, I'm really happy with you." he answered, because he really is. he feels at peace with her, and her bubbly personality really lifts up his mood every time they're together.

"no, are you happy in general?" she asked. jungkook pressed his lips together and looked ahead at the river.

"I don't like that question, to be honest." he said.

"because you don't have an answer to it?" she questioned.

jungkook heaved a sigh. she is too good. she sees right through him. but surprisingly, he doesn't mind. because he doesn't feel unsafe when he's vulnerable in front of her.

she gripped his hand tighter and he relaxed a little.

"chae, not everyone gets to live the life they want. not everything goes our way. and I've accepted that." he said. "I had a dream, yes. but I don't anymore. because the life I'm living right now is my reality. and the sooner I accept the reality, the better it is for me."

he looked back at chaeyoung to see her frowning. it bothers him when her face isn't happy.

"you don't have a dream anymore?" she asked. jungkook took a moment to think. he hasn't seen anyone this worried about him. not even his closest friends. it's probably because they both are bound by fate and can understand each other better than others, and he felt good. for once, he felt he wasn't alone. that someone was there to share his burdens, to feel his pain and to help him get through it.

he leaned in to gently kiss her lips, taking her a little by surprise but she soon reciprocated. and when she did, it felt like a weight is being lifted from his chest.

"you are my dream now." he said after they pulled away.
