Shannon wondered outside, leaving the door closed but locked. This is her usual routine since she lived on a remote island. Everyone knew everyone else and they all always left their doors unlocked, unless they left the island. She didn’t know how she knew this, she appeared to have always known, after all she grew up in this sanctuary. The reason she is leaving the house is nothing out the ordinary either, she was just going for her daily walk in the woods/.
She reached the woods and had begun to take photographs of the fascinating shapes made by the trees, to inspire her artwork. She worked full time as an artist and photography. She especially loved nature and trees.
She looked back at some of her photographs, she then noticed how the light was fading. She knew her window of opportunity for the moment was almost gone. Just as she was taking her last pictures the rain came. It started lightly but got heavier and heavier. Shannon headed home immediately; she did not want to be caught out in the storm. Well that was what the weather forecast had predicted, she thought she would have had enough time.
As she turned onto her street, she looked ahead at her house. Even though she was far away she could see that her garden gate was open. She didn’t question it, she thought that she had forgotten to close it. As she neared the house, she saw one of the lights was on. As she looked up to the window the light suddenly turned off. She crouched down low and watched the light turn back on. She lived in her house alone and was not expecting any guests that day!

The only editing I did to this after I wrote it in white text is spelling, punctuation and grammar.
