SIMON POV:
It's always the same! I try, for the sake of my best friend, to be friendly to Jace but I can't. Despite the kiss, they haven't taken on the relationship yet, although I know they love each other, it's just a matter of time. But something happened that changed the trajectory of this story, it wasn't really something but someone. And that someone is neither more nor less than Valentine.
That he was Clary's father everyone already knew and that he was a danger to our world, too. But a secret that was very well kept at the ends of the world, that is that no one was waiting for even Clary.
Apparently, not only is Valentine the father of Clary but also the father of Jace and you know what that means right? That Jace and Clary are brothers! After the meeting between the three, Clary and Jace did not return home in the same way. They both had doubts, but the confusion in their heads was absolute.
"Is everything okay?" Asked Izzy when they both reached the operating room.
"We are siblings!" Exclaimed Clary to everyone's surprise.
"What do you mean, brothers?" Asked Alec this time, as confused as all of us in that room.
- That I had a brother, I suspected after finding that box with the initials JC, but Valentine told us today that this person is Jace. Normally I would think he was lying, because it's him! But the explanation he gave us, everything is right!
Jace apologized and left our bank. I knew it was a tough day for both of them, but my hopes for something romantic with Clary were higher than ever.
"I know you don't like me or want to put up with me at this point in your life, but can I come in?" I asked at his bedroom door.
As much as he and I didn't get along, all the support was needed. It was a very bad situation and I don't even want to imagine what Jace is feeling.
- You can!
- I know you shouldn't want to talk about it, let alone me, but you know you can let off steam.
- It's not that I don't want to, but I never thought I was in this situation! I mean, Clary was the only girl that piqued my interest and now I find out that I like my sister.
- I understand, it must be a terrible situation, but now they both have to move on.
- I know and I will try, I swear I will.
- I hope you know that you can count on me for whatever you need. I'm going to leave now and leave you with your thoughts. I know you have a lot to assimilate!
- Simon, thank you!
After our conversation, I went to Clary for our favorite coffee and we were talking about the situation. I tried to comfort her but I didn't know how. We were talking for a few minutes and then I took her home. Like Jace, what she needed right now was a little peace and quiet to take in the news.
While this drama with Clary and Jace was going on, I was approaching a werewolf, who was part of Luke's pack, Maia. She's a good friend, but that's just it. As much as I want to, I can't erase my feelings for Clary and until I do, I can't.
In the following weeks, I spent some time alone with Jace and things seemed to be the best between us, at least we didn't discuss it so much anymore, which for us is already a victory. The priority mission was still to catch Valentine to arrest him at the institute until he was sent to a more effective prison, but when that didn't happen, there were still mundanes that needed to be protected.
Jace and Clary? How are they doing? Well, they have to maintain a brotherhood relationship now, which I know is complicated because they seemed to like each other very much. At first it was complicated, but with each passing day, it was more noticeable that things were not as strange as the day they found out they were brothers.
As Clary had to forget about Jace, I made it my mission to help her do it. Every day, after a mission, she would take her out to dinner, or we would just have a coffee or stroll through the Brooklynn parks, as we did before this crazy thing happened.
Clary walked to the institute and I went to say goodbye to Maia, when I saw Jace sitting at the bar looking at nothing. I know we are not the best friends but I went to keep him company anyway.
"It's coffee for me, please," I said to the employee behind the counter.
- What are you doing here at this hour? It's late!
- Do not forget that I do not sleep, so I came for a walk and saw you here alone, but if you want I can leave.- I said getting up from the bench, but Jace put his hand on my arm.
- Stay, so keep me company.
- Wow and think that a month ago we were grabbing each other's necks and today we are cordially drinking something.- I said smiling which made him smile too.
- It is true. The world changes very quickly!
- How are you?
- Better, things now had to change and are moving in the right direction. I know it is not the same and it is very complicated to turn off feelings from one moment to the next, but we are trying. After all we are family, we have to get along.
- That's right and don't worry, time heals everything!
We spent another hour talking but Jace was tired and so we left. I arrived at my apartment, changed clothes and lay down on my bed.
