Chapter 6

In the morning, as usual, I went to the institute to see if I could help with a mission and the first person I saw was Clary. She said good morning and gave me a kiss so that we could go, hand in hand, to the cafeteria where the rest of our friends were there.

- News? I want to know everything! - exclaimed Izzy, seeing our hands clasped.

- Simon and I are dating... - replied Clary smiling.

While she went to get some food, I sat next to Jace. I noticed that after hearing the news he was a little uncomfortable and as soon as I catch him alone, I will talk to him. I took advantage that after breakfast, he got up with the excuse of going to the gun room and went to him.

- Can we talk? Is Jace all right?

- Of course it is, why do you think it wouldn't be?

- I noticed that you were a little uncomfortable after the news of my relationship with Clary and I wanted you to know that we won't always be complaining about you, I know you don't like that.

- I was happy for you, I really was. I know that you have liked her for a long time and I want the best for my sister and if you are the best, because you have my blessing, even though you know you don't need her.

POV JACE:

After learning that the girl I like and Simon are in a relationship, I was really a little sad and it looks like he noticed that. I was even impressed that he wanted to know my opinion, even if it was just because he was his girlfriend's brother. Now what remains for me to know is why was I so bothered by the news?

After our conversation, the people came to the weapons room because there was a witness who had spotted Valentine. We have been chasing him for weeks but with no result, as he always seems to be ten steps ahead of us, so I thought it was a little strange to have sightings of him around town, he was not that careless to let himself be seen.

We decided to go just me, Izzy and Alec, so the rest of the staff would stay at the institute in case we need any assistance. We used the portal to transport us to the place where he had been spotted and when we got there, everything was quiet. I mean, there was no trace of him being here, which was even stranger. Something was not right and I did not have a good understanding.

- Guys, something is not right. He had never been seen before, he always walked ten steps ahead of us and suddenly he was careless?

- You're really right about that. We have to be careful!

- Jace Wayland, or should I say Jonathan Fairchild? Your father has a little message for you.

- Who are you? And if he has a message for me, then please come and tell me personally.

- Join us and together we will do amazing things.

- You can tell him that will never happen. May he give himself up to end this unnecessary war.

Finally there was no need to fight the warlock, so we just used the portal to get to the institute and after telling the rest of what happened, I went to my room. Well, what a day! First I find out that my sister is dating the vampire and now my father wants me to join his army to end the shadow world.

Two weeks later....

Today Clary and I had a meeting at Seelie Court to discuss the possibility of an alliance to defeat Valentine before he manages to do permanent damage to the shadow world. With the permission of Seelie Queen, Simon accompanied us even though I insisted that it would not be a good idea.

To say that the meeting was strange was to say little, Queen was constantly trying to offer Simon an alliance with her people and royalty titles in her Court. The environment was getting very weird, so when we decided it was best to go out, she didn't seem to accept it very well and when I found out I was stuck to a tree.

- What did you do to us? Let us out of here please.- said Simon.

- I'll let you play a game.

- What kind of game?

- Very easy, I will let you go if you, Clarissa Fairchild, kiss the person you most want.

She approached Simon and gave him a kiss but nothing happened. Seelie Queen mentioned the fact that she could lie to anyone but the tree. She came to my side and after taking a deep breath, she kissed me and the branches of the trees released us.

After the kiss, I looked at Simon and when I saw his face, I realized that he must be devastated by what had just happened. After all, his girlfriend just kissed her brother and according to the stupid tree, it was the kiss she wanted most.

After we left, Clary still tried to talk to him but he didn't want to hear her. I even realize, it's a very complicated moment and he needed to think.
