ALEC POV:
The truth is that even though the wedding is still two months away, I already knew who I wanted my best man to be, so why not ask him if he accepts, moreover, if they accept.
When Magnus asked me who my best man was going to be, I didn't even hesitate to answer. I still remember it as if it were today, the day my parents brought Jace to our home.
Flashback:
"I was playing with Izzy in my room when we heard the door open and we knew it was our parents so we went to them right away until we saw them accompanied by a boy who seemed to have more or less my age.
Our parents said that this boy, Jace, was going to stay with us because his family had all died in an accident and that he would be a shadowhunter like me and my sister.
At first it was all very strange because although we had a new person in our house, I had to share my room with him and he did not seem to give much to our confidence, but it was also understandable given the situation he was in.
But as time went by we started talking, playing the three together and we started to be very friends. Weeks later it was as if he had always been a Lightwood. For our parents there were no differences between us, who were his children and Jace, who was like an adopted son and Jace began to feel more and more that love and compassion that our family had for him.
When Jace arrived at our house, our younger brother Max was just two or three years old but the kid loves Brother Jace. Sometimes I even think he's his favorite!
The years have passed since the day Jace moved into our house and I, he and Izzy were inseparable. Don't get me wrong because I love my two brothers, Izzy and Max but me and Jace had a very strong connection and that's why we made the decision to be parabatai and it was one that I never regret. "
End of flashback
It no longer made sense to invite people other than my brothers to play such an important role, like that of the best man, on my special day. I had just arrived at the institute when I asked Jace and Izzy to come to my room. When I got to my room they were both sitting on my bed waiting for me.
"So are you going to tell us what was so urgent?"
- I want to ask you both a question and I really hope you will say yes. Would Jace and Izzy Lightwood do me the honor of being my best man?
- Us? Of course! - both answered at the same time.
Now I was ready for my wedding day. Of course, there were still many things to do, but what I cared about most was having the right people by my side on the day that will be the happiest day of my life.
The rest of the morning had been complicated and at lunch I went to Magnus's apartment and promised him that we were going to see some things for the wedding during lunch. Before I left I told Izzy that I might be a little late and if something happened to let me know soon that I would come running here.
POV MAGNUS:
I'm so glad that I finally have the opportunity to spend the rest of my eternity with Alec. I know that despite having lived centuries and my countless relationships in the past, I never met that person who was so special to take this big step that is marriage.
I still remember the first time I saw Alec, it was on a mission that he ended up having to "protect" me. Basically he just showed up at the right time at the right time, but since my gaze was fixed on him, I knew he was going to be a person who was going to revolutionize my world and I didn't make a mistake!
Both Alec and I were talking about who our groomsmen or bridesmaids would be and, although in his case the choice was obvious, in mine it was a little different. I didn't have many people in my life who felt that I was the right person for the role.
For centuries, most of the people around me were only interested in my power and my reputation ... Then I remembered my Biscut .... Her mother would bring her to my apartment to erase her memory about our world and its extraordinary abilities and after she met me on her 18th birthday, she is the person most similar to what I can call family.
I invited her to come and have breakfast with me and that was when I would ask her to be my maid of honor. In the last few days, Alec has slept almost always here, which sometimes worries me because he has duties at the institute but makes me happy to have him here by my side.
"Good morning Magnus," said Clary after she went to open the door for him.
- Come Biscut, I prepared a very delicious breakfast for both of us.
Breakfast was being fun and was also serving to catch up on the conversation, since when we are together, lately, it has only been on missions and does not give us the opportunity to talk a lot about everyday things.
- Well, I actually called you here because I wanted to propose something. You know Biscut, you are the person who is almost like family, I always considered you as a little sister.
- Yes...
- I wanted to ask if you wanted to be my maid of honor.
- Are you serious? Do you want me to be your mais of honor? Of course I accept it!
- Thank you for accepting Biscut.
After our breakfast, Clary went to the institute and I stayed here because I needed to prepare some things. At lunchtime, Alec came to lunch here and so we took the opportunity to talk about some things for our big day.
