Leo Valdez x Reader - A Rainy Day

Ugh. Rain, again. Normally summer was lovely. The sun shone brightly, the grass was a brilliant shade of green, and wow was lemonade refreshing. But all summer has been for a week straight was rain. That made the skies grey, the ground mushy, and lemonade was more watery then lemonade-y. The bad weather soured your mood immensely. You flopped onto your couch, your dog following suit. 

You felt a tap on your shoulder. "Still mad about the weather?" The voice of your husband came softly. 

"Mhmm." You were also the child of Apollo. Not seing the sun behind the clouds was irritating. You enjoyed spending your days outside strumming away on a guitar or working on your novel. 

"Well at least we can spend some time together," He said. You heard his footsteps walk around the couch. You were met with the lovely face of Leo Valdez. He sat down next to you and ruffled your hair. "How about we watch some Netflix?" 

You sat up at that. "Netflix?" Leo grinned. 

"How about f/s?" 

You pulled him into a tight hug. "You know me so well!" You said, happily snuggling into his chest. He laughed at your behavior as he turned on the television. Shortly after Netflix started up, and f/s started playing. You and Leo adjusted so you were cuddling under a shared blanket. Your dog curled into a ball next to you and quickly fell alseep. As a few hours passed, you rested your head on Leo's shoulder, and found yourself dozing off. 

As you slept, Leo snuck off to start on one of his projects. He muttered to himself as he tinkered away at some metal. As he worked, he remembered the upset look on your face. It made him upset to see you so sad. He wanted to make you happy, and that's what he would do. 

Groggily, you woke up from your nap about an hour after Leo had left. You look around but he was nowhere to be seen. "Leo?" You called out, but there was no response. You slid off the couch and set off to find your lover. If he wasn't with you, he was probably out in the garage working on something. As you stepped in, he seemed to be finishing something. He didn't notice as you walked in. You leaned against the doorway, watching him. 

It was always interesting to watch him work. You didn't know much about building things, so watching him take a bunch of random little parts and turn them into something amazing was always entertaining. Not to mention, Leo was usually very sparatic. He was constantly fidgeting with things, but when he was building he was focused and nothing could distract him. 

After awhile, he finished. "All done." He said happily. He stared at his creation in awe. You frowned. All you saw was a metal cube. Of course, you were sure there was more to it than that, but really... why was he so excited about a cube? He turned to you with a smile. 

"Hey Mamacita! You caught me!" His smile widened as he spread his arms. 

"What'd you make?"

He stood, the cube in hand. As he walked closer, you noticed a few symbols along it. They were all things relating to Apollo; a sun, the number seven, a lyre, and a laurel tree were just a few that you noticed. 

"It's for you." He said, handing it to you. "Just run your finger over one of the symbols." 

You ran your thumb over the lyre. Music began softly playing, making you smile. "Leo, it's lovely." 

"You haven't even seen the best part!" He ran his finger over the sun, then quickly pulled his finger back. To your surprise, a small ball of fire resembling the sun sprang out of the cube. You stared in awe. 

"Leo..." You felt tears build in your eyes. "I love you so much." 

Leo took the cube and pressed the number seven. The sun disappeared, but nothing else happened. "I didn't know what to do with seven," Leo admitted, "so it's the power button, so to speak." 

He set the cube back on his worktable and pulled you into a kiss. "Te amo tambien." 

"Why'd you make me that?" You said, "I love you, but... I don't deserve that."

Leo shook his head. "You deserve the world, Y/n! I made you this because I know how much the rain disappoints you. So even when it rains, you can see the sun." 

"You're the best." 

Leo grinned and pecked your cheek. "I know."
