Zack had no idea where he was. When he opened his eyes, he found himself staring up at a metallic and slightly curved ceiling. As he recalled the events of the last few hours, he looked around, and found himself in some kind of a futuristic spacecraft. At the helm of the spacecraft was the same woman he had seen earlier, and right next to her, sitting in a chair turned in Zack’s direction, his eyes looking down at Zack, was the blonde man.

Back in the field, when the man had asked Zack to come with him, Zack had unhesitatingly relented. Not because he trusted the blonde man, but because he was downright scared of the other man who had just disappeared down the hole. They ran, all three of them. And Zack ran perhaps the fastest he had ever ran in his life. But after going on for several minutes, Zack slowed down a bit.

“But Mr. Sanders. Th..There was another man back there, and he’s hurt. Didn’t you see?”

“There’s nothing that can be done about it. And you know that. Keep running.” The man’s voice seemed surprisingly unruffled even though he was running at a fairly good pace.

“And anyway, our primary concern for the moment, is you.” It was the woman who spoke this time.

And so after running for a few more minutes, they had traversed the boundary of the fields. They now stood in a clearing of some sort, and a few feet ahead of him, Zack saw a machine unlike any other he had ever seen. It was somewhat spherical in shape, and huge. When his two acquaintances approached the thing, a door like frame, out of nowhere, emerged on one side, and the door opened, to reveal the same surroundings that Zack presently found himself in.

“Who are you?”

“I’m Blake. This is Rose. And you are?”

“Zack. Who was that man back at the field? What did he want?”

“Hey, hey Zack. No need to rush things, right? Believe me, all your questions will be answered. I know you’re confused,  and scared, but once you get to where we’re taking you, you’ll feel much better.”

“And there’s someone there who will be able to handle you much better than we can. So have some patience. And try to calm yourself down. We’re almost there.” The woman spoke.

And so Zack sat. He sat quietly, even though he felt like he might just suffer a brain hemorrhage if he thought about these past events anymore. He sat quietly even though his brain felt like it might just burst due to being filled with questions unanswered.

He sat quietly even though his future had never been as uncertain as it was in those dark moments.
