'𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐃𝐀𝐘'"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, sweetheart. blow out your candles!" tony said as he placed the birthday cake in front of theo, who wore a princess crown.
currently, everyone was celebrating theo's sixteenth birthday. it was a small gathering that took place at the avenger's headquarters. the group consisted of tony, pepper, peter, theo, uncle steve, aunt natasha, aunt charlie and uncle rhodey.
this was how most of theo's birthday were since she was born. just family. this year was sort of different, though.
after people found out she was ironman's daughter they also found out when her birthday was. tony's mailbox was flooded with presents for theo. jarvis was sure to check each one to make sure it didn't have anthrax or anything in them.
theo smiled, closing her eyes and blowing out the candles. she opened her eyes as everyone started to clap. she giggled, looking at all of her loved ones.
"alright, i'll cut the cake. theo, you wanna start opening your presents?" pepper asked as she rubbed theo's back lovingly.
theo smiled. "sure, why not." she said, getting off of the kitchen stool as everyone made their way to the big living room that had the presents.
this year, theo asked everyone to get her something small, or nothing at all. she felt like she had everything she wanted, so she didn't need anything else.
"ooh! open mine first." natasha said as she placed a small gift bag on her lap, smiling proudly as she sat back next to steve.
theo smiled widely, eyeing the bag. she pulled some gift wrap out and finally pulled out a box. she furrowed her eyebrows and opened it, her eyes widening. inside was a pocket knife that had her initials engraved in it. "holy shit!" she said and laughed, pulling it out and pulling the knife part out. she gently touched the blade as she laughed.
tony sighed. "another knife, nat, really? this is the tenth year in a row." tony said as he looked at natasha.
pepper set down plates of cake on the coffee table for everyone and then she sat down. "she has a collection now, tony." pepper told him and laughed softly.
theo opened the rest of the presents over the next hour and finally she got up, hugging her loved ones.
tony walked up to his daughter, smiling. "we've got one more. big one." he spoke, kissing his forehead. he picked up a small gift bag and handed it to theo.
theo eyed it and looked up at her father. "big one, huh?" she joked.
"oh, just open it." tony said as the family started to gather around again.
she giggled and opened it, pulling out an envelope. she furrowed her eyebrows until she saw the MIT logo on the corner. she quickly looked up at her father. "no way." she said, shaking her head.
tony tapped his top lip with his knuckle in anticipation. "open it, theo!" he said, gesturing.
she quickly but carefully ripped the envelope open. with shaky hands, she unfolded it and read. fully expecting a "we regret to inform you" she read "it is our pleasure."
theo let out a gasp as she threw her arms around her father. "i got in! i got in!" she cheered and hugged her father.
the rest of her family cheered as well, natasha hugging steve and then everyone participating in a group hug.
they pulled away, and theo had a bright smile on her face. she continued to read the letter. "they said that i am bright for my age, even brighter than father may have been. they hope to see me in attendance after i graduate from midtown tech, which will be this year." she announced and looked up.
tony smiled widely. "now go put these presents in your room and then help clean up, okay kiddo?" tony told her, kissing her forehead.
theo nodded. "pete, a little help?" she asked and started to pick up her presents.
peter helped and they both walked upstairs, placing her presents on the bed and fiddled with his fingers a bit. peter hadn't put his presents with the rest, as he wanted to give it to her in private. "hey, theo?" he asked her softly.
theo turned around, seeing the box in peter's hand. she smiled widely, tilting her head. "what's this, parker?" she asked as she walked up to him.
peter chuckled softly. "uh, so, i know we've only been dating for around eight months, but..." he trailed, opening the box, revealing a necklace with the letter 'p' on it. "... i wanted you to, uh, wear my letter. i know it's super cliche and you don't have to, i have the receipt-"
theo smiled widely, cutting his rambles short as she threw her arms around him and kissed him deeply
"you talk too much, of course i'll wear it." she said, smiling at her boyfriend.
