Chapter Twenty-Five

Allison's Point of View.

''We attacked a teacher,'' Hermione says in shock. ''He deserved it, letting a schoolyard grudge cloud his judgement,'' I scoff. 

''You all shouldn't have done that. You should have left that to me,'' Black says looking at Hermione, Ron and myself. Hermione kept on muttering to herself. Black bent down to Lupin and quickly untied him. ''Thank you,'' Lupin thanks him as he stood up. 

''I still don't believe you,'' Harry tells them. I walk over and grab his hand again. ''We haven't heard the whole story,'' I remind him. 

Harry looks at me and nods after a minute. ''Then we can offer you some proof,'' Black tells us. He then turns to Ron ''you boy give me your rat,'' Black demands. 

Ron looks from us to Lupin and Black. ''You just broke out of Azkaban to get to Scabbers. Even if what your saying is true there a ton of rats. After all your time in prison, how do you know Scabbers is the one?'' Ron asks. 

Lupin nods looking at Black. ''Yes, how is that Sirius?'' Lupin asks. Black brings out a paper from his robes. He held it out for the rest of us to see. ''That's our family,'' I state. 

There on Ron's shoulder was Scabbers. ''How did you get this?'' Lupin asks. ''When Fudge came by the night I escaped, he gave it to me,'' Black tells us. 

''There on Ron's shoulder was Peter. I knew it was him because of how many times I had seen him transform. 

Then the caption said that Ron and Allison were going back to Hogwarts with Harry,'' Black tells us. ''Merlin's beard, his front paw!'' Lupin says looking from the picture to Scabbers. 

''What about it?'' Ron asks. ''He is missing a toe,'' Black tells us. ''He cut it off himself,'' Lupin clarifies. I look at them in realization. I looked at Harry, Ron and Hermione. 

''The first Hogsmead trip Harry and I went on when we overheard the McGonigal and the others. They said that all they could find of Pettigrew was his finger,'' I tell them. 

Harry and Hermione nod at me telling me that remember. ''Just before he transformed. I had cornered him, he yelled for everyone to hear that I had murdered James and Lilly!'' Black says pain momentarily flashing through his eyes at the mention of Harry's parents. 

''Before I could curse him, he blew up the street with a hidden wand behind his back. Killed everyone within twenty feet. In amongst the chaos he cut of his own finger and transformed. Following other rats down the sewer,'' Black tells us. 

''Look Scabbers could have had a fight with another rat. He had been in our family for twelve years,'' Ron says looking at me then back at the adults in the room. ''It pretty long life for a common garden rat,'' Lupin tells us. 

''We took good care of him,'' Ron defends himself. ''He seems to have lost quite a lot of weight Probably ever since he heard Sirius escaped,'' Lupin reasons. ''He has been scared of Hermione's cat,'' Ron says blaming Crookshanks once again. 

''Scabbers has been looking ill ever since you guys came back from Egypt, the same time when he escaped. Way before Hermione got Crookshanks,'' Harry says out loud. 

''And the cat isn't mad,'' Black pipes in. He then tells us all about meeting Crookshans and how he knew that Black and Peter were no ordinary animals.
