"Rachael where are you taking me?" I groaned as the bubbly redhead dragged me out of bed and pulled a white V- neck shirt out of my closet and threw me a pair of capris.
"Get dressed and you'll find out!" she placed her hands on her hips and looked at me to see if I would do as she said. Her glossy hair was loose and pulled half up, the rest of her hair falling down her back in soft curls. She looked exceptionally pretty without her waitress uniform on. Now she was wearing a floral pink dress that went just above her knees with a Jean jacket and cowboy boots. She looked like she belonged in this town, yet she looked like she belonged in a fashion magazine.
"Rachael, it's only 8 in the morning! Why did you wake me up from my slumber?" My eyes were still half closed and she looked at me like I was crazy.
"Girl you better wake up and smell the cow patties because in this town the earlier the better!" She went to the vanity in the corner of the room and inspected all of my beauty supplies,"Now get in the shower and hurry up!"
"Okay, okay." I walked into the bathroom and turned on the water. I hopped into the warm shower and enjoyed the warm water running down my back, calming me. As soon as I finished I dried off and went back into my room and changed into the outfit Rachael chose for me earlier. Rachael was sitting on my bed looking at her surroundings, her blue eyes seemed to be lost in thought.
As soon as I finished pulling the white shirt over my head I impatiently asked,"Okay I'm dressed, now can we go to wherever in this minuscule town you're going to take me?"
She stood up and inspected me, looking at me up an down,"Yes, I chose the perfect day to take you out." she beamed at me and then grabbed my hand and began pulling me downstairs leaving me barefoot and my hair still dripping wet.
"Can I at least get my shoes?" she look at me and made a 'oops I forgot face' and nodded. I pulled on my red converse and we headed back out the door,"Now can you tell me what and where we are going?"
"Not just yet. It's a surprise silly!" oh how I hated surprises.
We walked over to Uncle Hank's truck and Rachael pulled out the keys,"Wait, where did you get his keys?"
"I asked Hank if I could take you out today and he said I could use his truck." she hopped into the drivers seat while I climbed into the passengers.
"That makes more sense." We pulled out of the long driveway and drove down the mainstreet passing Sam's Got Grub and other small stores along with the sheriff's office.
"Today's my day off and I thought today would be a good day to do something fun. You know something that only girls can do together seeing that you've been around all those boys most of the time!"
"Well it's not that bad... Okay maybe a bit. I guess I've missed some other female company." I left my window open to let the warm air come in and dry my hair.
"Oh look, our first stop!" We pulled in front of one of those small shops that I never seemed to pay close attention to and saw that it was a beauty parlor. Heh, I guess country folk like to get dolled up too.
"Uhhhh Rach, why are we at a beauty parlor?"
"Quit asking questions Callia, you'll find out soon enough!" I hopped out of the passengers seat and looked at the storefront. There was a bright red door and a sign that hung above saying,'Miss Tate's Home For Beauty.' Home? Really? Since when has beauty actually "lived" somewhere? "Are you just going to stand there staring or are you going to come inside and see for yourself?" I looked at the radiant redhead and saw her beckoning me.
"I don't know... I kinda preferred the Chevy..." I looked at her and the shop uneasily.
"Oh for goodness sakes girl! C'mon." Rachael grabbed me by the arm and pulled me (well more like dragged) into the "Home of Beauty." When I stepped into the store (Again pushed by Rachael) the scent overwhelmed me. The air smelt of nail polish, shampoos, hairspray, and the strong odor of perfume. Several women were about either sitting in a chair getting their hair done, or reading a magazine while recieving a pedicure.
