The weekend seemed to have fly by in a blur cause when Monday morning hit. You could see Nikki in a bundle of nervousness. She had changed her outfit three different times. Had to check over her neck, making sure the cover up was still holding up so her kiss marks weren't showing.
"Do you want some waffles?" Closing the press on our Belgium waffles maker. Turning to look at Nikki sitting at the breakfast bar with the kids next to her eating.
Her eyes were wide as she held her coffee cup close to her mouth. Carefully taking small sips as her mind was else where. I tapped the counter gaining her attention.
"What? Sorry." She mumbled looking back at me.
"Waffle? Do you want one?"
"No thanks." She set her cup down, getting out of her chair. "I should get going to work." She kissed each of the kids before heading to the door.
I followed behind her, stopping her before she walked out. "Hey. Everything is going to be okay at work. Don't think to much on it okay?" She nodded her head, still seeming unsure. "Call me on your lunch if you want to talk? Or if you want I can bring the kids with me to have a lunch outing with you? Pretty sure they'd love that."
My favorite smile of hers formed on her face. "I'd like that. I usually have lunch about noonish. So come anytime around twelve."
"Okay." I smiled back before giving her a hug. "Have a good day and I'll see you later."
Waving bye she left the apartment, seeing more relaxed but still on edge.
While she was away at work. I did what I normally did during the day. Home school learning with the kids. Of course they moaned and groaned but complied none the less. Making the learning process go by faster.
But now we were in my car on our way to Nikki work place to pick her up for lunch. I hadn't heard from her since she left this morning. I hope she is doing okay.
"Auntie Amy where are we going?"
Looking in my review mirror at Leann in the backseat with Maddox. "We are going to go see Mama Nikki for lunch."
"Yay! We're going to Mama Nikki work!" The kids started chanting in the back.
"But remember you two. Mama Nikki work isn't a place for fun." They both nodded there head to me as I pulled into the parking garage of the building.
Once parked I took out the kids, carrying Maddox in my arms while holding onto Leann hand. I'd let Maddox walk, but when it comes to new places he is a little shy and prefers to be in my arms. Unlike Leann who loves to explore new places. Hence why I make her hold my hand.
As we rode the elevator up, the kids were getting excited on seeing Nikki. I was too. I haven't got to see her at work since she first started. It's the same with the kids too.
The door opened onto her floor and Leann started to almost run while holding onto my hand tightly. She knew the exact way to Nikki office. Her office was the only one next to a set of huge wooden doors. The boss office. Mr. Solider.
Rounding the door to her office, Leann and Maddox let out the loudest yell as soon as they laid eyes on her. It startled Nikki slightly but she ran from behind her desk right to them as soon as I set Maddox down on his feet.
"My babies." She hugged them tightly. "Oh its great to see you here."
I walked up to her next as she stood up. Developing her into my arms for a hug. "How's work going?"
"If your asking how my interaction with my boss is." She pulled back to look me in the eye. "Awkward." She started chewing on her bottom lip. "It feels like we had a break up even though we never dated." She leaned closer to my ear, whispering so the kids wouldn't hear. "He brought up if his performance was horrible in bed and asked if that was the reason I left after he fell asleep."
