Laurie: "Mom, I know you care but I promise not to be doing anything awful." She rolls her eyes as she talks on the phone. She stands in the kitchen. Some pasta is being boiled in a pot on the stove next to her.
Her mom: "Just tell me that you are at least doing well at your...your-" she stops. "Whatever you call that job of yours."
Laurie: She sighs. "It's called a designer, mom." She stirs the noodles.
Ryan: She plays in the living room.
The TV plays spongebob squarepants.
Ryan: She groans as she hears her mom in the next room talking. "I know Miss Wisher. Grandma does talk a lot." She talks to a small white cat stuffed animal.
Laurie: She drops some cheese into the dried noodles. "I will. I promise. Okay mom I have to go. Love you!" She hangs up before her mom could say anything. She sighs as she puts her phone down. "Ryan! Dinner!"
Ryan: She walks in the kitchen. She climbs up on a chair. "Mommy, why can't grandma know about me?" She holds up her head with her arm.
Laurie: She grabs the two plates of Mac and cheese. "Honey, I already told you. Grandma can't know about you just yet." She sits down.
Ryan: "I know Momma. But I wish she loved me.." she takes a bite of her food.
Laurie: She stares at her. "Honey, grandma does love you. She...she just isn't ready yet. Give her time. Okay?" She smiles at her.
Ryan: She nods. "Okay Momma."
Laurie: "Hey..you know..even if she doesn't love you.." she scoots close to her. "I'll love you forever an ever." She attacks her with kisses.
Ryan: She laughs. "Stop!"
