We all flew together in the helicopter back to homebase, even Ella. She slept on my shoulder on the way back as I watched the scenery change and go from city to towns to forests and back again. So much has happened these last few days. What could this mean for... I suddenly sat up. I grabbed a handle and stepped into the leg of the helicopter.
Jules stood up also, getting off of Kent's lap.
"What's wro- Oh my God..."
My heart sank as my hopes died. "It's all... Gone."
Everyone on the helicopter stared out onto the wreckage that was once home to many people. Our home. They stared out at the burning wreckage of the Bridgeton Homebase. As screams of deadies and humans echoed through the night, the sky started to cry as it watched innocent people die. The fires seemed to burn brighter as the rain poured down harder.
This is it. This is the end of the American defense against the deadies.
