The party.

I arrive at 10:15. Chase opens the front door. "sup dude i've got all the stuff,were you want me to set up?" Chase thinks for a second. "In the yard on the other side of the pool on a little raised bit if that's ok?" I nod and start to bring my stuff in. I finish bringing it all to the other side of the pool, facing the large windows looking over the back yard.  I pull out metal poles and start putting them together, fixing lights and speakers to them. It's a bit excessive for just a house party i know but i like things done right. It takes around 30 minutes to set up what is essentially scaffolding with speakers and lights on it. I grab a piece of wood and set it up like a desk. I put my light controllers, deck and laptop on the piece of plywood. I set up all the wires and secure them neatly to the stable structure with electrical tape. I plug my stuff into an extension cord and make sure its a safe distance from the pool. I also cover the links and stuff with saran wrap to make sure no one gets electrocuted. By the time i've done this the first guests arrive. It's just (us) Jess. "Hi Ollie, this looks good." she hugs me. "Thanks." I say. "You seen Chase?" I shrug. "He let me in, haven't seen him since then." Jess puts her ears back. "But i think he's getting ready." She nods and walks off into the modern looking house. 

I test the speakers a few times and jess comes running back to me. She flies on me and hugs me. "Chase looks so good tonight and i gave him a hug to say hi and he smells so nice and-!" I shake her off and look at her. "Calm down crazy fan girl." I rub her head. "I'm gonna go greet the guests see ya." She turns and runs of. I shake my head she's crazy. After about 30 minutes guests start to flood in. 

I start to play the first song in the line up. I feel a poke and see Jess with the box of ciders. "Oh thanks Jess just pop them on the ground there." she puts them on the ground and walks away. I grab one and open it, i take a swig and set it down far from the electrics on the other side of the makeshift desk. I scan the crowd but i can't see Grant yet. I really hope he comes. I look over at Jess who's sitting on a table next to Chase, a little bit father from the other jocks. OOO~ i giggle. Looks like its going well. i say in my head. I set the fog machines off and a cloud of dry ice engulfs the crowd for a second. It's not that great outside but it lingers for a while as the wind isn't that strong. 

I look around the guests when the fog clears. I look over at the house and there he is. Looking very good. Ohh i could just leave this Dj booth right now and go fuck him somewhere. I feel my dick slip out of its sheath. Fuck sake! I just had to think like that didn't i. I go back to focusing on my job. I will observe him when he's closer i think to myself.

I signal to Jess to come closer when she's near. She walks over. "What is it." I turn to her "the next song the lights will go pink, there are a few songs where this happens, this is where you can try impress chase." She nods "but do it subtle ok?" She nods again and goes back to the little group and sitting next to chase. I get ready to play with lighting controls as the last minute of the song plays. I hear the start of the song and fade the lights and bring them back in pink and white. familiar by Liam Payne i thought would be a perfect slow song for Jess to try get Chase's attention. I use the hydraulic controls to spin and move the lights around slowly. I use a little bit of strobe at some points. I look up at the crowd and cringe as i see couples getting quite intimate. Great now i've turned this rave into a yard of horny 17-19 year olds grinding and making out mess. I look over at Grant sitting quietly in a corner. I would just love to sit there with him and cuddle. I look at Jess who is completely bossing getting Chase's interest subtly. I can see him eyeing her butt. I swing a light over to them and swing it around there. Im sure i will get Jess a boyfriend by the end of this. But unfortunately, I look over at Grant. Don't think i'll be getting one. 

The song comes to an end. I take a long drink out of my can. It went better then i thought, apart from making a quarter of the furs at the party kiss and grind. I release controls from the lights and let the programme i made take over. After a minute or so a fur walks up to me. "hi can you play a song for me?" She shuts over the music. "Sure what can i play for you?" She walks closer. "Can you play don't call me up by Mable?" I nod and shout to her "yeah after this!" She thanks me and walks back to her group of friends. I play the song she requested after and i can see her filming on her phone. I don't mind this and keep working the lights as i didn't set a programme for this song. When the song finishes she thanks me and walks back to her friends. again. I yet again release the light controls. 

For the last 2 hours and 30 minutes the party goes well. I take song requests as they come and I give Jess another two songs to impress Chase. I round the party off with goodbye by Jason Derulo. Cheezy i know but it was fitting. I put the lights on a bright yellow as the guests leave. I turn around for a second and hear a piece of paper slide into my song requests box. I turn to see who put the paper in but no one is particularly close. I shrug and decide to check it later. i pack all my stuff up when everyone's gone. Jess is still there but she's ok i guess. It takes me two hours to pack my stuff up. I put all the boxes in my car. I'm not gonna drive, i've only had three cans but it's better to be safe then sorry.

I walk in to find Chase. I find him sat on the couch looking concerned. "Hey chase whats up?" He stands up. "I like j-jess h-how do i tell her." I secretly celebrate in my head. "You know jess has always liked you, you should just tell her dude." His eyes widen "Thanks!, great job on the party by the way." he turns to go "Before you go, can i crash on your couch, i dont wanna risk driving." he nods and walks out to Jess. Mission success! I remember the strange paper in my requests box. I grab the box and sit on the couch. I grab the piece of paper. i read it.
