At about 11:15 am we get a call. I look at the tablet on the center of the dashboard. "We've got a brawl, four casualties three stabbed one shot and guess who were going to." Ian turns the lights and sirens on,  a robot voice saying emergency mode activated . "Shot?" I nod and look at the call information. "Police in attendance, all units that are free are going." The call is a Red one call meaning its very high priority and patient death is possible.

It takes 15 minutes to get there. We get flagged down by a police officer and shown to a car. The patient is a black and brown wolf. He's yelping, whining and screaming in pain. He's also falling in and out of consciousness. I look at his leg which is pouring blood. I put my radio to my mouth. "Male shot in the shin area, clear entry and exit wound and the hole is about 2 inches wide." A wolf who looks like his brother walks up. The police officer asks him about the situation and he explains. 

Ian appears next to me with a stretcher. We move him carefully to the stretcher and get him in the back of the Ambulance to shield him from public. I instantly inject morphine into his system. I cut the leg of his track pants to get to the wound quicker. I also give Tranexamic acid to slow the bleeding. I wrap it tightly for the transit for hospital. A police officer jumps in with me to give assistance if i need it. He seems to settle and he starts to talk. "The wastemen just ran up and shanked up the mandem and when i went to stop them i was shot." I hold onto the side of the stretcher and ask. "Did you see what you were shot with?" He winces and opens his eyes. "Shotgun." I look over at the police officer in awe. "That explains why the hole is so wide." I look at a scar on his side. "Whats this scar from?" he sighs "Stabbed last year."

We arrive at the hospital and we take him in to get operated on straight away. We walk back to the ambulance. An image of the wound pops into my head. The hole pouring blood i could see straight through to the other side. I could even see the muscles inside. I put a paw against the side of the ambulance and puke.
