Blade’s POV

I waved goodbye to Todd as he walked away. Today we spent the whole day at the arcade, and it was more fun than I had imagined it to be. Maybe it’s because I hadn’t seen him for so long, then again it was my fault he was grounded for staying at mine all night… Drunk. I looked down at my watch, ignoring the fact my mask was slowly slipping down. 9:30pm flashed on the broken screen before he lowered his hand, sighing as he noticed the old handmade goggles in this other hand. Blade face palmed and looked up at where Todd was a few seconds before. He was gone.

“Looks like I’m going to have to take these back to him, I know their important…” He mumbled to himself as he slowly made his way to Todd’s house.

Todd’s POV

I smiled to myself as I walked into the darkness of the low class part of town. Today was a great day, we both just smiled and laughed and had a great time. Man… I’ve not thought that in a while, usually I’m stuck inside my home with my brother because I’m too much of a wimp to face the harsh realities of life, b-but I got to forget that for now, I’m happy and I may as well keep myself that way. I looked around, shivering a bit as the cold wind brushed the side of my body and I have to admit that leaving my jacket behind was the worst thing I could ever do but I was too busy being excited! Blade was always there, he cheered me up in my darkest hours and always made me feel special, was that weird? I hope not. I looked around again, noticing the streets were completely empty for once. How unusual, usually the homeless would be roaming around here by now. Usually I would be scared of being alone in this dark dangerous town, trudging my way back home, but being with Blade made me feel completely different. Happier and braver than usual but not as oblivious to my surroundings. I guess you have to have some faults with the good things. I looked down at the ground as I followed the familiar tracks I used in the daylight but something felt different, something felt terribly wrong as if someone was following me. I shrugged it off, after all it sounds stupid even thinking that, and continued to make my way home, following the road alongside the train tracks. I always wondered why Jim decided to keep living in these dark parts of town, crime and poor hid along the streets day and night making it a dangerous place for everyone, I’m still not used to the scary looks of people I pass by in the day, makes me shiver just thinking about it.

I smiled and looked up at the foggy night sky, without a care in the world. I’d never felt so free before. Nothing could get in the way of this happiness… Nothing—

I fell to the floor, my hand reached towards my head as I felt the hot liquid begin to pour out. My vision slowly went blurry and dark, my body felt achy and hurt. Before falling unconscious, I saw the figure and a face I swore I remembered but couldn’t match it with a name or voice. I slowly felt my body shut down as I heard a voice echo in my head

“Well well well… Look who I found.”
