Swimming in the Moonlight
Bad Suns

here outside, it's just you and I
I couldn't love you more if I tried
it's crystal clear as we disappear

"Eddie! Over here!", I look down to see bright, fiery red hair, bouncing with every move the girl with blue eyes made. "I saved you a seat!"

"Thank you very much madam.", I joked as I took a seat by the blue eyed girl. "So Bev-" before I could even start my sentence I was interrupted by the professor.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Today we will be talking about Chapter 8 in your textbooks.", she continued on talking about something boring. I groaned quietly getting a pen from my bookbag.

"Crap. Richie always gives me a pen." , I turn to face Bev, and she gives me a slight smile handing me her pen. "Thank you, you are a lifesaver.", I smile back at her.

You wanna know why I lie? And what exactly Richie meant by them wreckage of our lives'?

my phone buzzes in my pocket, and i get it out to see Richie had texted me.

Richie rich❤️
—Srry! I luv u

There's rich, always making me feel better.

Richie and I have lived next door to each other our whole lives. I was there when his parent finally got married. They may seem happy, but it all turned into a shit show after my dad died, from cancer. Our parents were best friends from high school, they all loved each other.

Richie's dad turned into an abusive alcoholic, and his mom just let everything happen. On the other hand my mom, wouldn't get out of bed.

I started lying to my mom that she would make it through. It's not that i don't think she can, I just don't think she wants to wake from the pharmaceutical haze she's been in since dad died.

But Richie and I have always been there for each other. We're city kids who've never had backyards, so we made our own 'Urban Treehouse' on top of the stairwell in our apartment. It's our private place, that no one knows about.

"Sir? Hello?", I hear someone, taking me out of my thoughts. Bev hits me on the arm, I turn to her, with a confused face before she points to the professor.

"Huh? oh i'm sorry.", I say shyly, as everyone's eyes are on me. "Are you finding it difficult to concentrate on our discussion?" I was speechless, and I was super embarrassed because of everyone's eyes shooting daggers at me.

"W-Well it may have a-appeared that I was zoning out, but I was actually, um exploring the very power of my... unconscious.", I say, as people around me start to silently giggle and whisper.
