Animal
Troye Sivan

An ode to the boy I love
Boy, I'll die to care for you
You're mine, mine, mine, tell me who do I owe that to?
And as the days fly by
We'll be more than getting through, yeah
And in time, time, time, we'll build a home for two

I want you all to myself
Don't leave none for nobody else
I am an animal with you
No angels could beckon me back
And it's hotter than hell where I'm at
I am an animal with you

6 years later

"Rich did you pick up Violet from Hockey practice?", I asked through the phone, giving a bottle of milk to Tyler, then filling up Kermit's doggie bowls. "No? I though you were?", Richie said, slightly panicking.

"No Richie! I told you to because I'm staying here with Tyler!", I yelled, panicking and picking Tyler up, grabbing my car keys quickly. "Eddie, I told you I was gonna be at the office today."

"Shit. Shit. Shit.", I cussed, making my way out of the house, phone in between my shoulder and ear, and the baby on my hip. I quickly secured him in his baby seat, "It's okay baby, you'll get there.", Richie tried to calm me down.

"I'm like 40 minutes late! Jesus, okay.. I have to go.", I say exasperated, turning the car on. "Okay, bye I love you. Don't stress to much Eds."

I drive down the long driveway quickly, "Alright, I love you too. Bye." I hang up, driving as quickly and safe as I can to the Ice rink.

About 4 years ago, we were informed that a girl, 10 years old, had been abused and neglected at her home with her father and mother. I couldn't bare to imagine that, so we took her in and adopted her. She was shy, but warmed up really quickly. She was very well mannered. I had put her in Ice hockey, after she begged and begged for weeks. I was proud of her, and so was Richie.

Then a year ago, this mother had Tyler. She didn't want him, since she was so young and couldn't take that responsibility in high school. So she gave him to us, and we promised her that she could come by and see him anytime. For a one year old, he sure does has a loud mouth on him. Just like his dad.

"Daddy! Daddy!", I heard Tyler yell, and kick his seat. "Yes baby?", I ask. I'm about 3 minutes away from the ice rink.

"Hungwy.", he said. He didn't know how to pronounce his r's, and I always thought it was so cute. "Alright hon, I have to pick your sissy up then I will get you some food."

"Otay Daddy."

I rushed into the parking lot of the ice rink, seeing Violet sitting outside with a... boy? Oh lord, Richie is going to have a cow when I tell him this. "Violet come on!", I yell from my car, not really wanting to go any closer to the two. I see her roll her eyes, and tell the boy something.

"Finally here?", she scoffed, throwing her bags and stick in. I sigh, "I'm sorry, I thought your dad was getting you and he thought I was getting you.", I explained starting the car again.

She hummed, looking out the window. "So, who was that boy?", I teased after a few minutes of silence, which made her smile wide, cheeks glowing a light pink. "No one."

"Vi, you can tell me, and I won't tell Richie.", I compromised, watching her expectantly as she huffed. She knew if I told Richie, it would mean The Talk and she did not wanna hear that. Though either way, she also knew I told Richie everything.  Violet sighed, looking at me with defeat, "Lucas Petersons. He's on the boys hockey team, only a year older than me."

"He's in high school! Your still in eight grade Vi.", I exclaimed, gripping onto the steering wheel harder. "Yeah, so what? I'm gonna be there in like 5 months."

"Fine, fine! But don't blame me when Richie mysteriously finds out about this boy.", I say earning a scoff from Violet. I laugh, as we turn into the driveway.

"Alright get your butt outta the car. I've got your bags, just get your brother, and give him some food.", I say, going to the trunk of our Tesla. I walk out into our garage, setting her stuff down. I smile at the view from our house.

Just like Richie and I always said, we got a house, kinda big but it's homey, and it's on a lot of land and a lake. So we have a boat we sometimes go on, and play with our Italian Greyhound Kermit in the fields.

10:30

Violet, Tyler and I were watching The Lion King for the 2nd time that night, since its Tyler's favorite. We were all cuddled up on the couch, Violets head laid on my chest and Tyler sat, curled up on my lap. Kermit laid on the ground at my feet, snoring.

rattle rattle creak

"Dad!", Tyler yelled, slowly walking over the Richie who just walked into the door. "Tyler the Myler! What's up little man?", Richie said, picking him up. Tyler laughed, throwing his head back. "Goodie good!", he cooed back. Kermit barked, running and jumping on Richies legs, "Hey kermit, hey boy.", he said, petting his head.

Violet jumped up to, running to hug him. I smiled, and wondered how grateful I am for Richie and our kids. "Hey Vi. Sorry I forgot you today.", He ruffled her hair.

"It's okay dad, it wasn't all to bad.", she said, and I almost laughed earning a glare from her. Richie smiled, putting Tyler down, and walking over to me. I stood up, hugging him tightly. My stomach flipped, butterflies filling it just like when we were teenagers. "Hi baby.", He said, rubbing my back. He knew I was still stressed from today's events, and always attempted to calm me down. "Hi Rich."

I look up at him, our faces inches away, "I missed you bunches.". He smiled kissing my nose, "I missed you too.", I smiled back, putting my hands on his face and kissing him, full with love. I heard gagging from beside us, making me smile.

I exit the kiss, looking at Violet who was fake gagging and Tyler who was hiding his face in his hands. Richie laughs, plopping down on the couch, Tyler quickly laying on his stomach. I laid my head on his shoulder, his arm around me and Violet laying on the left side of me. "So, what are we watching?", Richie asked, kissing my cheek.

"What do you think?", I joke, as Tyler yelled, "The Lion King! Waww!" He tried to roar, not getting the r's right again. Richie laugh, running his hand through Tyler's hair. "Wow! That was a big roar!", Richie said, acting suprised. "Wight? I gotta big woaw!"

"You sure do baby.", Richie laughed, and I kissed him on the cheek before laying my head back down on his shoulder and playing with Violets long brown hair.

This is how I imagined it'd be and so much greater. To be all cuddled up on the couch, with my family, watching The Lion King for the hundredth time that week, almost knowing each and every line.

I smiled, watching everyone fall asleep on the couch, as the credits to the movie roll. "I love you Rich." I whisper.

"I love you too Eds.", He whispered back. "Forever and Always?" I ask, looking into his eyes, that shone in the reflected TV screen. He nodded, " Forever and always baby."

Forever and Always

"Violet was talking to a high schooler when I pulled up at the ice rink.", I whispered, giggling a little.

"What!? Oh god we have to have The Talk."
