Oikawa sees Iwa is not all up to the offer of a party. He shrugs it off, even though he can feel the strings in his stomach tugging at him. "Hey, Iwa-chan, how loud were Iriji and I last night..?" Oikawa asks.
"I'm pretty sure both our neighbors heard you," Iwaizumi replies, raising an eyebrow.
"Oops~" Oikawa hums.
"We both know you're not sorry," Iwaiumi chuckles. He looks away for bit and starts to speak again. "Hey, Oikawa. I know you don't talk about your family much. But, I was just wondering- what made you hate your dad so much?" Well, this is unexpected. Oikawa debates whether he should tell the truth.
He decides not to.
"Well, it was because he wasn't there for me, I guess. He left us to struggle. That's all." Oikawa shrugs and tugs on the hem of his sweater. He feels that Iwaizumi knows he is lying, but decides not to pressure him.
Some things are better left unknown.
"Iwa-chan, are you sure you want to go that party?" Oikawa asks suddenly, diverting the topic. Iwa notices, for sure, but he leaves it alone.
"It's fine, Oikawa. Besides, I don't want your drunk ass doing something you'd regret."
"So mean, Iwa-chan!"
"I'll be mean if it's the truth!"
Oikawa leans back and touches his hand to his chest in mock hurt. He doesn't let Iwaizumi know that he is used to doing things he has regretted.
He regrets lying so often. He regrets using women like objects. He regrets leaving his mother alone. He regrets teasing his sister so much. He regrets taking his fathers abuse. He regrets keeping his mouth shut. He regrets so many things.
He regrets living.
Oikawa sighs and looks away from Iwaizumi's annoyed face.
"What is with you today, Trashykawa?" Iwa asks him, concerned.
"What are you talking about, Iwa-chan? I'm fine! I'm just a little tired, I guess!" Oikawa gives Iwa a sleepy grin, breaking off into a yawn. It looks so incredibly realistic one who didn't know him would be fooled instantly. But this is Hajime we are talking about. He has stuck with Tooru through thick and thin. He has seen Oikawa's tearful face when he opened the door at two a.m. He has seen him pick out what flavors of ice cream he wanted at the grocery store. He has seen him nearly starve himself. He has seen it all. So he can see that Oikawa is faking it. Oikawa knows this, too. He knows Iwaizumi will tell him he is not tired at all. But he is lying so well that even he himself believes he is telling the truth.
