Chapter 12: Battle

Today was the day. I was getting my dads back.

"Is everyone ready?" I ask. I'd finally upgraded my costume to work with Kaminari. I don't have to compensate for Kiri since his quirk doesn't directly affect others.

"I'm ready," Shoto says.

"Let's do this!" Kaminari says.

A big explosion from the arena sends us running.

When we get there, I stop, keeping a safe distance.

Shigaraki did exactly what I expected. He brought Dabi, Toga, and Kurogiri, along with a girl I didn't know. The girl had tiger stripes and orange hair.

I didn't see my parents though.

"Tora!" Shigaraki says, as though we were old friends. "Nice to see you again."

"Shigaraki," I say calmly. "Where are my parents?"

He smiles and snaps at Kurogiri. A warp gate opens up and a guy with tentacles walks through, carrying my dads behind him.

Aizawa was still blindfolded, and Hizashi was still gagged, which was expected. What was also expected were the several cuts and bruises. He was a villain after all. Torture was part of the package.

The tentacle guy shoves both of them onto their knees.

"I said four people Shigaraki!" I say. "I'm counting five on your end."

"Oh, him?" he asks, pointing to the guy restraining my dads. "He's not fighting. Should we get started?"

I look at my team, who all nod.

"Begin!"

I send ice towards Toga, who jumps and backflips.

"Hi again bestie!" she says, running towards me. "You left me alone with a bunch of boys!"

I dodge as she comes at me with a knife, grabbing her arm and swinging her into Kaminari, who sends out a sharp shock.

Toga falls over, twitching.

"Nice job Shocky!" I call.

"Thanks!"

I run over to Shoto, who's fighting Dabi, and nod. He takes my hand with his right hand and we send a Double Ice Blast.

Dabi sends out fire, and I jump out of the way. Shoto, using a new skill he's been practicing, shot back with fire and ice at the same time, sending Dabi flying backwards into Kirishima, who starts punching with rock-hard strength.

I hear a sound behind me and duck in time to miss Shigaraki's hand. I flip into a handstand and cartwheel, kicking him into the ground.

"Not bad Tora," he says.

I growl and shoot ice at him. He dodges again and kicks me in the stomach, sending me backwards into a wall.

I need to get to my dads.

He steps closer to me, and I realize that I didn't have anywhere to go.

Shoot, I'm cornered.

"So, looks like I win," he says casually. "You're cornered, and I know all your moves."

I growl and try to use my ice, but it's no use. My quirk doesn't work when I panic.

He reaches for my face and I stand still. His fingers make contact with my skin-

Nothing happens.

He's staring at me in confusion, when the pieces click for me.

I look over to where the guy was holding my parents. When I see Aizawa's hair, I grin. Somehow, he'd gotten the blindfold off and was erasing Shigaraki's quirk, a furious expression on his face.

Using the advantage, I push off from the wall and kick Shigaraki in the chest, sending him back a few feet.

"Guys, we're ready!" I shout. "Kirishima, get ready!"

All four of them find a way to send whomever they were fighting in one direction, so they were all in a group.

Jiro comes over and plugs an aux-ear-cord into my boot, and I flip down my special new glasses. I take Shoto's right hand again, and Kaminari gets into position.

Jiro and Shoto get into position while Kirishima uses his quirk to protect himself.

"Ready?" I ask.

They nod, so I grin.

"You don't know all my moves Shigaraki."

Then I use my second quirk, letting Jiro add her sonic heartbeat. My hair rises into the air, reflecting the sun and looking really pretty. The air shifts and twitches as Shoto and I use our ice quirks combined, causing a whirlwind of ice and snow in the direction of the villains.

"SONIC SHOCKSTORM!" Kaminari shouts, sending out 100ma of electricity into the storm.

We hold it for thirty seconds before stopping. All the villains are on the ground, frozen and twitching, and my eyes sting from the shockwaves.

Without a second thought, I turn.

"Kiri, go!" I call.

He runs and slams full-force into the tentacle guy, shoving him away and forcing him to let go of my parents.

As they're pulling off the blindfold and gag, I run over and give them both a hug.

We sit there for a few minutes with my friends standing behind me, when something shifts. There's a bright light, and the next thing I know, My hand is bleeding, Shoto is behind me, and I have Shigaraki's hand in mine. My eye feels weird, but that could be my imagination.

"We had a deal," I say to Shigaraki. "I win, you all leave us alone. Now get out of my sight."

He growls and yanks his hand away.

"Fine. A deal's a deal."

He walks over to the ice, which is starting to melt. He disintegrates the ice and Kurogiri warps them all away.

I pant, holding my bleeding hand, as everyone stares at me. That's when I realize that my parents are standing nine feet away from Shoto, and there was no way I could have gotten behind him so fast.

"What just happened?" I ask.
