~Three weeks later~
I take a deep breath and close my eyes, focusing on the spot next to Kirishima.
With the Sports Festival only two days away, my friends and I were training as much as we could. I hadn't been able to Glitch since the fight a month ago, and it was driving me crazy. Hizashi had woken up the next day, and was released from the hospital a week later. He's doing fine now, so my group and I decided to get ready for the Festival.
I open my eyes and find I haven't moved.
"You've got to be kidding me!" I shout. Kirishima walks over to me.
"What the heck Komori!?" he said angerly. "We've been practicing for weeks and you haven't done anything!"
I glare at him.
"You could offer some support instead of yelling at me you know," I say bitterly before walking over to practice with Shoto. Kiri and I have been drifting apart lately. I've been assuming it's just because of the Festival, but it sort of feels like it's something more than that.
I turn to Shoto, trying to clear my mind.
"You ready?" I ask.
He nods, and I get into position.
"Don't hold back on me like last time," I say. "Give it your all."
"I don't want to hurt you," he says. "You...remind me of someone I care about."
"Aww, that's sweet," I smile. "But I'll be fine. I'm an awesome dodger."
He looks down for a minute, mutters something, then holds out his left hand.
"Alright," he says. "But remember; You can do this. I know you can. It's easy, remember?"
I nod, smiling.
Fire blasts towards me and I focus on the circle we drew behind him, relaxing into the familiar static feeling in my gut and humming to it. The air shifts, and I'm in the circle.
"Finally!" I shout, jumping. "I finally did it!"
Shoto turns around, smiling.
"Good job Komori," he says. "I knew you could do it."
"It's about time," I hear behind me.
In a sudden rage, I turn to Kirishima.
"Excuse me?!" I shout. "I've been trying for weeks to get this down, and when I finally do it, with no help from you might I add, you can't even manage a good job?!"
He scoffs.
"It's not my fault you couldn't do it," he said, rolling his eyes. "You should have been trying harder."
I glare at him.
"I can't believe you Kirishima!" I shout. "I've been spending so much time worrying about our relationship that I can't focus! The only reason I was able to do it this time was because of Shoto's encouragement and the fact that I was trying to impress YOU!"
I've got hot tears in my eyes, and ice is all over the ground. Kirishima stares at me in shock as Shoto walks over and takes my hand. I'm still glaring at Kirishima.
"You're just as bad as Bakugo," I say. "We're over. Leave now."
He stares at me, then reaches out a hand only to pull it back.
"Alright."
And with that, he walks away.
"I'm sorry Komori," Shoto says as Kaminari and Jiro walk over to see what was going on.
"What happened?" Kaminari asks.
Shoto explained while I calmed down. When he was done, I pulled away.
"Dad said that our new teams are playing a major part in the Sports Festival," I say. "Let's beat him to first place."
