I ran around the forest trees, the wind blowing past me.  I jumped over sticks and darted by trees. I can’t remember the last time I felt alive. I stopped and leaned against a tree. I closed my eyes and tried to relax, I was out of breathe from running and even though they told me I was out for a long time, I was still exhausted. The sound of screaming caused my eyes to shoot open looking side to side; I stood up when I saw yellow fog moving through the forest, fast.

‘What the hell?’ I thought walking backwards, there was more screaming telling me the fog wasn’t safe. I began to run in the opposite direction passing trees and looking for somewhere to hide.

“Alex!” I heard my name and stopped, “don’t stop keep running!” I continued running looking for the person who called my name, I saw Bellamy standing outside of what looked like a cave. Running faster he grabbed my arm and pulled me inside, I felt a slight pinch on my hand but ignored it. Leaning against the rock wall I closed my eyes and tried to control my breathing.

“Are you okay?” I opened my eyes and saw Bellamy sitting across from me, next to a sleeping girl, looking at me intently. I nodded my head,

“Yea, I think so.” I brushed the hair out of my face and leaned my head against the rocks, I was exhausted.

“No you’re not” I looked at Bellamy confused, he sat up and moved over towards me and grabbing my hand in his. I winced at the contact, just now feeling the pain; “You must not of felt it” I chuckled and looked down at my red hand.

“I guess so” Bellamy ripped a strip off of his shirt and carefully wrapped it around me hand, I watched his face, he was so concentrated and his eyes never left my hand. Once he finished he moved back to his place across from me, but his eyes never left mine.

“What?” I asked, Bellamy shook his head,

“Nothing” he muttered. He leaned his head against the rocks and closed his eyes, but before either one of us could get any sleep the little girl began to whimper in her sleep. She soon began to scream and yell. Bellamy was about to get up, but I stopped him,

“Rest, I got this,” he nodded his head and watched as I made my way over to the little girl. I shook her shoulders and she jumped awake looking at me wide eyes,

“Hey,” I said in a quiet voice, “I’m Alex, what’s your name?” she looked towards Bellamy then back at me,

“Ch-charlotte” she spoke quietly,

“That’s a great name, I like it,” she gave me a small smile and I smiled back, “what was your nightmare about?” Charlotte looked around and sighed, I knew she didn’t want to tell me, “You know what? It doesn’t matter,” She looked at me confused and I could see Bellamy looking at me too, “what matters is what you do about it” Charlotte looked at me,

“But…I’m asleep”

“Fears are fears; slay your daemons when your awake, then they won’t be there to get you when you’re asleep.” She looked over at Bellamy, who smiled at me nodding his head,
