Rooftop Talk

[Third Person POV]

The night came and Hester wasn't feeling in going with the boys this time, she had enough of crowds so staying in the rooftop of the dorm was pretty decent place for her to chill and relax while the cold air breathes out in the atmosphere. Dark clouds barely covered the bright moon shining.

Using her senses she can feel someone was behind her. Predictable she scoffed internally "I thought you were at Nicky's" she said still staring ahead knowing who was the one behind her.

Chase chuckled and sits down beside her on the hard tiles, he replied "Finished early with the Ipswich boys, how come you sense me everytime I sneak up on you?" his eyes that were shifted to black turned back to normal now

"Like a radar, your power radiation is close" Hester answered

He nodded understandingly "So you're powerful than the rest" stating like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Yeah, I ascended before them and both my parents willed their power to me before they died. So I never really get to know them that well" Hester shrugged it off like it didn't affect her.

Chase looked down watching over students coming in and out of the doors below "Must be hard growing up with the Power and not knowing what to do with it" deep down in his tone was bitterness, he remembered how hard it was for him not knowing what the Power was and having no one to guide him through it while the Ipswich sons had all the help they needed.

Hester nodded "It was, til I had Caleb's mother and him fill in the missing pieces but I kept my powers in secret from them, letting them think that Caleb is the leader among us"

Now that she mentioned it, he's been meaning to ask her a question about it, furrowing his brows looking at her side

"Why? With all the Power in you, you can do anything you want"

"That's the thing with The Power, you can do anything you want but the more you use it, your body drains" Hester stated, making it clear for him.

He fixed his seating position so he can twist his body to her "With everything that you have, I doubt it'll ever happen to you" he had high hopes that Hester can reverse the aging

Hester shakes her head in doubt "Even if it will or not, the Power will never give me the personal satisfaction that I want, sure it's fun at times but to me is still an empty void"

That's when Chase shuts up, he never thought someone can be so unsatisfied with the Power, especially Hester with already having the most of it want nothing to do with it, yet here he was quite strong for the Power but needing more of it.

Processing Hester's words in his mind, he can't really answer why is she like this. Her purity and innocence was getting with Chase making him want her more, he finds himself everyday falling for her.

Hester noticed that he had gone quiet all the sudden, when she turned to look at him, his eyes held deep adoration.

"What is going on Chase? I thought you'd be forcing my cousin to Will his Power to you out of death threats to kill everyone he loves. Why are you being so different to me?" she asked him almost annoyed

Biting his lip nervously he kept gazing at her brown orbs "You may be powerful than him but I would never ask or force you to Will your Power to me. Just you in my side is all I want"

Hester replied to that "I'm in no one's side" implying that she had no desire to do with him or her cousin.

"You may not entirely agree with my plan but I still want you to give me a chance"

"What are you even..." Chase cuts her off, he blurted "I like you Hester, I can't really say but it's like I've always been drawn to you at some point"

Just like that he suddenly placed his hand on top of hers that was resting on a tile. Like they were being transported to a different place, the setting was different it looked like the city and they were standing on the roof sharing a kiss there, and another show that they were gathering in a meeting with 5 more people: two blonde girls and three boys that have a hair color of blondes and a brown one. Everything was shiny and it transferred again to a barn, outside it was raining hard. And lastly a man limping towards a train.

Brights lights were gone as if Chase and Hester opened their eyes, they were still sitting on the roof but what they saw was something else. Hester could tell that it was from the future but questions were racing in her every thought. The same goes for Chase as well.

"Di..did..did you see?" Hester stuttered looking at Chase nervously that he saw the vision as well, especially the first one that they were on a different roof top staring at a city and kissed there.

He nodded "I did" Chase couldn't help but smile then unexpectedly he leans in catching her lips with his in a soft kiss. Hester was pretty shock at first but then she surrendered and responded back to the kiss. Chase grinned that she did not pull away probably hoping that she could see what she means to him.

Of course they needed to get air, so when they broke apart Chase stared at Hester's face, her eyelids slowly opening back, their gazes were on each other. Not knowing what to do next, a knock interrupted them. Hester heard that ot came from her own room. Telling Chase to stay quiet she quietly walked to the window of her own dorm room and answered it.
