Days passed, Hester finally got better and returned to her old self but it was a bit different this time. Chase hangs out with her more or takes any oppurtunity to walk to her next class, steal to give small pecks on her cheek or hand like the gentleman he is.

Repeating the statement that Sarah said to Chase before inside Hester's head 'Chivarly isn't dead after all'

But all his efforts of affection were not unnoticed by the Sons of Ipswich. Pogue and Hester were better now, it's just Chase he has a bad feeling with.

Tyler and Reid would only comment or make fun of Hester and Chase's business. They even find amusement in Caleb's reaction every glare he sends at Chase for flirting with his cousin could've killed Chase. He kept it secret how Chase manages to sneak up late at night to go to Hester's room and would just talk.

Swim practice, Hester was doing butterfly laps with two other students from the team. She was doing much better displaying the form and faster than them, no doubt she was already in the lead.

Cheers erupted from the boys, cheering for Hester.

"Whoo! Let's go Hester!" Reid whistled and supported Hester. Cupping his mouth into a small microphone yelling her name over and over.

Tyler joined clapping with the group. Pogue was kneeled down on the surface by Hester's column since it'll be his turn after her like a tag race.

Caleb stayed behind him smiling proudly at Hester. Though she was being called as the unsocial person of the school, but she was the best swimmer Spencer's got besides them.

"She's fast and very good" a voice commented from behind him, Caleb turned to see it was only Chase taking place to stand beside him.

With that cheeky smile of his showing that he was also proud for Hester.

Caleb responded putting his eyes back on the small race "The best of us, she actually went to the Olympics one year and got second place" he bragged, Chase nodded impressed.

After Hester was announced the winner, she lifted herself up to the surface, with Pogue helping her "Switch Parry" she said exchanging places with Pogue.

"Right back at ya Simmons"

A whistle erupted, Pogue and two new swimmers jumped to the water emitting loud noises from the crowd cheering for Pogue.

Hester turned to Caleb "I'm gonna hit the showers and head on" Her cousin nodded since he was the captain of the swim team only makes sense that she'd update him first on the coach's absence.

"Mind if I join you?" Chase playfully asked her, making Caleb glanced at him disbelief that he just said that to hid cousin right in front of him.

Hester smirked and playfully punched him on his shoulder, the two chuckled before Hester went away from the two. Caleb didn't take his glare off of Chase, who was still staring at Hester's form disappearing to the women's shower room.

Once she was out of sight, Chase moved his attention to Pogue doing laps besting the other swimmers.

"He really is good" he commented

"You seem to take a good interest on observing" Caleb said

Shaking it off "Habits die hard"

"Especially with my cousin, you two have been awfully close" gritting his teeth. Chase decides to be all innocent

"We just clicked, I guess" he boredly replied

"I hear you swim a mean freestyle"

Chase shrugs "That's what they tell me"

"Wanna bet?" Caleb suggested. Now the two were facing each other ready for the challenge.

"You win I'll let you join the team for a freestyle man. You lose, keep a distance from my cousin" Caleb whispered the last part to him

"Let's see what you got" Chase smirked.

The pool got cleared out, all the other swimmers were just as curious to know this one. None knew about the bet they shared but they were up for the tense challenge between Chase and Caleb.

The whistle blowed, two swimmers were going on head to head in the pool. Some of the crowd cheered for Caleb and Chase but many favored Caleb more since he was the one they've for so long that was the best.

When Chase and Caleb touched the first end, the two spinned and swims back to the other corner where they started. Caleb was taking the lead since he chose to take small breaths of air for this one.

Each arm turning like wheels under a boat, going over and under the chlorine water. Caleb would take glances at Chase's form to see how he's going through.

But then something caught Caleb's focus, when Chase turned for a stroke so his face was facing Caleb's direction. Chase's eyes were pure as black, he was now on the lead successfully touching the wet wall but
Caleb couldn't erase the shocking part in his head, he kept paddling, with that he lost his direction and bumped his head on the wall instead.

The swimmers were all in shock of what just happened to Caleb. Chase immediately dived in and helped place his body back on the safe zone. Let's just say that during the next classes, Caleb couldn't take his eyes off from Chase observing him afar.
