[Third Person POV]

News reached to Hester's ears how Chase beats Caleb in a swimming race and somehow her cousin was suddenly dumb and bumped his own head hard. Plus how she felt in her senses when Chase shifted back at the pool as she heads in to her next class.

Dismissal came, when Chase came out from his last period Hester suddenly grabbed him by his tie, he was surprised but he lets her take control and pulled him to the arts room which was empty.

Closing the door for privacy, she turned to Chase angrily "What was that? You used it on Caleb"

He sighed "I didn't use it on him"

She points out to his eyes that were just normal "You shifted!"

He defended "To distract him"

Hester scoffs at his reason, she knew Chase would proceed on his plans but she didn't know he would go this early and hurts her cousin that way. "All for a small competition?" sarcasm laced in her tone

Chase suddenly grabs her shoulders with both hands looking her dead in the eye "He was betting that I should keep away from you!" raising his voice was enough for Hester to shut and stare at him shock.

"-and that's one thing I will not tolerate. I don't want to be away from you" his voice soften, eyes scanning Hester for any sign but she was not terrified only surprised.

Hester places her hands on his that were planted on her shoulders, she slowly removed it away. Looking at him with a sad look.

"You won't have to, I'm the one that's going"

At her confession, Chase stared at her in bewilderment "What do you mean?" he asked

"My Aunt and Uncle finally took notice of my existence and they want me to move tonight. They think Ipswich is not a good place for me to grow up anymore. They're taking me to Boston" Hester explained

He lets out a breath of disbelief "What about me then?"

Hester meets his gaze  with her sad one "I'm sure there's nothing I can do to change your mind about the plans that you have but I hope to see you again someday when you set things the right way"

Chase couldn't believe his ears to what Hester just said, she was already telling him that she's leaving without any sign of regret. She was the one that is keeping him down to solid ground but she was already leaving tonight.

His sad look turned into a blank one "I actually considered not going through with my plan but now you're right. There's nothing that can change my mind now."

Chase turned around exiting the arts room with a slam from the door. Clearly frustrated. Leaving Hester alone, little did he know she was just as sad for the news as him but she was the one taking it well feeling there is something else driving her to take this path.
