Skyler Keller's pov
Soft beams of sunlight danced along my face, waking me up gently. I slowly sat up and yawned, stretching my hands up to the sky gracefully. A smile spread up on my lips as I gently slipped out from under the covers, slipping on a pair of pink fluffy slippers. I loved doing this. Waking up just as the perfect daughter should.
Except, I'm not the perfect daughter. My loud ass alarm clock shakes me awake at the buttcrack of dawn, no perfect sunshine in sight. I grab blindly with my eyes still closed, trying to grab my phone it turn the hell born thing. Once I succeeded at turning it off, I turn on my phone the light blinding me. I then scroll on my phone for a half hour or so, until my brother practically shoves me out of my bed, onto the cold floor. That's how I wake up. So glamorous, I know.
I groaned as I slowly sat up. "Gee, thanks Kev, a little warning next time?" He just rolls his eyes at me.
"I'm leaving for school in 15 minutes, you better be ready. We don't want to be late for our first day." I nod my head before getting off of the floor. I run my hand through my blonde wavy hair as i walked over to my closet to pick out my clothes for the day. After going against a pair of ripped black jeans and a red crop top, I choose the more socially accepted, high wasted light wash jeans and a pale pink t-shirt that was tied just above the wasteband of the jeans. Once dressed, I headed to my bathroom to pull my hair into a half up and half down hairstyle and brush my teeth. I applied winged liner, maing sure the wing wasnt too big and thick, before coating my already long lashes with mascara. To finish up my "good girl" look, I slipped on a pair of while canvas sneakers and a small golden necklace. I sighed as I looked at myself in my mirror. I hated warring clothes like this. But this is what everyone wanted. They all wanted me to be a perfect daughter, all because my father was the Sheriff.
"Skyler! Hurry up!" I rolled my eyes at my brother as I walked down the stairs. He was standing at the door, clad in a sweater and pants, with a brown leather bag laying on him, cross body style. I looked him up and down before stifling a laugh.
"Kev can you be anymore gay? It's summer, not fall" He opened the door, waiting for me to leave. I rolled my eyes. "You're no fun." I pouted. He shut the door behind me and started walking beside me."
"First of all, I'm as gay as they come, second of all, I'll wear whatever I want to wear, and third," he leaned in closer to me, "Archie got hot." I giggle at that before rolling my eyes again.
"And you know this how?"
"You know he lives right next to Betty, right?" I nodded and motioned for him to go on. "Well, while I was at her house, Archie decided to stand shirtless in front of his window, and he has abbs now, six more reasons Betty should ask him out already." I shake my head at my brother.
"Enough about Archie. And onto a more serious note. I'm nervous to go back this year, especially with everything that has happened over the summer." I look at the ground thinking about the day that Jason Blossom was found dead. I had spent countless days at the Blossom residence after that, comforting Cheryl over the loss of her brother. I shook off the memory, looking back up at my brother, who simply nodded in agreement. We walked to school in a comfortable silence, waiting to see the outcome of our day.
At some point during the morning, an assembly was called. I could tell many people were nervous, due to rumors of The Back-To-School formal being canceled. As much as I hated school dances, they were a good distraction for my father, and I could sneak out to go to the Southside, to have an actual fun time. I shifted in my seat next to Kevin as Cheryl walked onto the stage.
"Thank you for that moment of silence. Many of you were lucky enough to have known my brother personally. Each and every one of you meant the world to Jason. I loved my brother. He was and always will be my soul-mate -- so I speak with a confidence only a twin could have. Jason wouldn’t want us to spend the year mourning. Jason would want us to move on with our lives" Cheryl paused for a second to catch a breath. "Which is why I've asked the school board not to cancel the Back-to-School semi-formal. But rather to let us use it as a way to heal, collectively, and celebrate my brother's too, too short life, thank you all." She smiled as applause echoed throughout the room. I watched as she locked eyes with me, her smile faltering. I could see the pain that she was hiding so well. She quickly straightened back up, plastering the smile back on.
Soon after the assembly, lunchtime was called. I walked out to the courtyard with my lunch bag slung over my shoulder. I head over to the table where Archie, Betty, And Kevin were sitting. "Hey guys." I sat down as they all relied. "What are you listening to?"
"Some of the music that Archie started writing." Betty answered. I nodded my head, surprised that Archie, of all people, could play music, and very well. I stare off into space as I pulled out my salad, enjoying the music. I was pulled out of my headspace when a raven haired girl came up to the table.
"Mind if I join?" I looked at her and shrugged. I could honestly careless.
"Yeah." Betty said. I arched an eyebrow at her, hearing the sound of disappointment in her voice. She just rolled her eyes at me and mouthed, Ask Kevin. I nodded and turned back to my salad.
"What are we doing?" The girl asked. Betty smiled at Archie before answering.
"Listening to one of Archie's songs." I bit into a piece of lettuce, ignoring the heart eye emoji that was Betty's face.
"I thought we were going to have to pretend to like it, but it's actually really good." My brother added. I nodded.
"Surprisingly. Archie is one of the last people I'd expect good music from." Archie gave me a joking glare, and I stuck my tounge out at him.
"And who might you be? I don't think we've met. " The girl asked me, she out stretched her hand to me and I shook it.
"Skyler Keller, more popularly known as Kevin's little sister, who just happens to be smarter and cooler than him." She smiled, retracted her hand.
"Veronica. So I'm guessing that you're a freshman then?" I shook my head no in response.
" I'm actually a sophomore, I was just bumbed up a grade back in elementary school." She nodded in response, before turning her attention back to Archie. I started to tube out the rest of the conversation as I finished up my salad and put it back into my lunch bag. When I looked up, Cheryl was sitting in Archie's place, talking about cheerleading.
"Is being the gay best friend still a thing?" She asked Kevin, when he aske if cheerleading was still a thing. I rolled my eyes and started to get up. That's when Cheryl diverted her gaze to me. "Skyler, you also must tryout. I would love to have you as a co-captain."
"I'll think about it. Cheerleading really isn't my thing Cher." She looked up at me, and shrugged a little.
"Well, try outs are after school in the gym. I would love to see you there Sky." I just shrugged and stared to walk away, over to my locker. I heard footsteps behind me as I opened it, and I turned to see Reggie Mantle, aka a stereotypical hot football player who sometimes sleeps around. I recognize him as one of Archie's buddies, and I relax a little.
"Hey." His voice was smooth and calm, but I could hear the somewhat cockiness in it.
"Hi Reggi. What do you want?" He put his hands up in defense.
"Can't a guy just say hello?" I raise an eyebrow before shutting my locker. I start to walk to my next class, seeing that the bell had rang ending lunch. "Okay, okay. I know I have a rep, vut come on, can I at least talk to you?" I stop and look at him.
"About?" He scratches behind his neck, a sign of vulnerability I haven't seen in him.
"I was wondering if you would like to go to Pop's with me after football today." I shrug. I mean 1 date really can't hurt, and honestly, I need to hang out with some new people. Being the person that I am, I don't have many friends of my own choosing. Cheryl is about it. Now don't get me wrong, I like Kevin's friends, they are just, boring. Nothing interesting goes on. I feel my lips curl up into a smirk.
"Sure, why not. Can you pick me up after cheer?"

Okay so this was the 1st chapter. I'm trying to keep things similar to the show, but at the same time, y'all already watched the show, why would you want to read every single detail about it all over again.
Also if you're reading this, I would like some help with who Skyler should date or stuff. This may, and probably will change throughout the story, but who knows.
Here are the choices
-Reggie
-Sweet pea
-Fangs
-or anyone else (say who you want in the comments)
I want to try and keep betty and jughead, and Archie and Veronica together, also preferably Toni and Cheryl, but let me know what you guys want. Also, I'm sorry to the lack of cover, it is coming soon
