I carefully made my way into the Southside. Rain was pouring down, soaking my hair. But who cares, its not like I was trying to impress anyone there, right?
I finally reached the Wyrm after was seemed like hours of walking. As I entered, I heard talking about what happened last time, when I beat Sweet Pea a pool. I kept my head down until I reached the bar where a familiar pink haired girl was working. I forced a smile as she came over to me.
"Sky, I thought you were leaving for good. Glad to see you back." I heard a scoff next to me. I flinched a little, earning a weird look from Toni.
"Well, I guess that I couldn't stay away. Two shots please, Vanilla Vodka." She nodded and got then ready for me. I looked back down, ignoring the brown haired serpent next to me. I looked back up as Toni placed down my shot glasses. I instantly shot back both of them, almost desperate to get a buzz.
"Are you alright?" I nodded at her, not really wanting to explain anything.
"Yeah, its just been a rough few days, where's Fangs?"
"He's at his trailer sick. He'll be sad that he missed you" She replies, I nodded as she headed off to serve some other people. I stare off into space, nervous about the serpent next to me.
"Why do you keep coming back? Stick to your own side." I turn to face Sweet Pea. I curl my lips in, a nervous habit of mine, as I avoid his gaze.
"Drinks are better here." He scoffs and turns away. "Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to threaten your fragile masculinity." I froze, realizing what I had said. Damn that worked fast. He turned back so he was facing me, anger flairing up in his eyes.
"Fragile masculinity? That's all the Northside is. I like to see those fleabag bulldogs even try to cross me." I rolled my eyes and faced back to the counter, where Toni was coming back over.
"Three more please." I ask. She gives me a look as she poured them. I slid over 20 cash. "Keep the change." I throw back the 3 shots as she takes the money to the cash register.
"I thought you were responsible." Sweet Pea teased. I glared at him.
"And I thought you were decent, yet here we are, anger issues and all." He glowered at me, making me laugh. "Ooh, so scared." He grabbed me by the arm, pulling me in next to him. I ignored the flutter my heart did as I breathed in his scent. Cedar wood and smoke, but not in a bad way. I mentally slapped myself. Gods I really was a lightweight.
"The only reason I haven't told any one about you Northsider is the fact that I can hold it over you. I would shut you mouth if I were you, we don't like liars." He let go and I pulled away. I glared at him, before getting up and walking away. Behind him I hear Toni talking to him. I don't really pay attention, I just keep walking out of the bar.
I'm on my way home, at least I think I am. I'm really not sure. Confusion seeps in as I stop to try and evaluate my surroundings. That's when I hear footsteps behind me. Next thing I know, I'm on the ground, dizzy and dazed. I hear a few punches being thrown before I am picked up bridal style. I close my eyes, my head hurting too much to even think, and I curl up into the chest of whoever was carrying me, smelling a scent of cedar before passing out.
I roll over, schrunching my nose in confusion as I roll into a wall. My bed isn't next to a wall. I sit up straight in a panic, remembering the events of last night. I look around, taking in my surroundings. I was on a queen sized bed in a plain grey room. Next to the bed was my bag and another plain black one, full of school books. I look down at my body, thankful to see that I am in my same clothes as last night, minus the leather jacket, which was sitting next to my bag. In front of me was a plain wooden dresser, than the door. Then I realize the sunlight streaming in. "Shit." I mumble to my self. I get up and get my phone out of my bag, seeing a dozen texts from my dad and Kevin, asking where the he'll I am. I send them a quick reply saying that I was alright and that I went over to a friends house and forgot to text them because of how tired I was, and how sorry I was. After that was sent, I set my phone down on the bed and walked out of the room, curious and scared to where I was. The door lead out into a dingy kitchen, with plates and cups in the sink. I continue past the kitchen to where a figure was sleeping on a couch, that looked a little too short to contain their height. I gasp, realizing that it was Sweet Pea. I quickly head back into the bedroom, realizing I had slept in his bed. I gather up my stuff, planning to leave before he woke up.
"Morning." I screamed, throwing my bag at him. It hit him in the chest, causing him to stumble backwards. I took a deep breath, calming myself.
"Sorry." I mumble as I go to reach my bag. He smirked as he held it above my head, him being much taller than I was. I glared at him, but inside my head I was confused. I thought he hated me. I sighed in defeat and walked back over to the bed jumping on it. "Why am I here?" He sighed, tossing my bag back to me.
"As you were leaving, Toni was chewing me out about letting you leave alone after 5 shots. I followed you, to make sure you got home okay, and some Goulie tried to take you. You got hit in the head pretty bad." I started to notice the pounding headache in the back of my head. "I brought you here, not knowing where you lived."
"Thank you." I said, still confused about him being all kind and stuff. "I thought you hated me." His gaze hardened.
"I do, I'm just trying not to get killed by Toni." I watched as his expression hardened.
"Oh." I quickly look down. "I need to get home." I grab my bag and fish my sweatshirt out of it and slipped it on. I put my jacket inside and zipped it up before pushing past him. I feel his hand brush against my arm and I turn around to look at him. He realized what he did and he closed his hand into a fist and landed it on the wall.
"I can give you a ride, if you want." I look at him confused still as to why he was being so nice.
"Um, yeah s-sure I guess." He nodded, before going to grab his jacket and an extra helmet. He tosses the helmet and opens the door for me. I nod in thanks and stop in front of his motorcycle, a red 2013 Harley Davidson Fat Boy.
"Do you have a license for this?" I ask, slightly concerned for my safety. He scoffs at me in reply, and I realise I have no choice but comply. Grinning, I put on my helmet and climb on behind him.
"You might want to hold on Blondie." I rolled my lips in as I slowly wrap my arms around him, ignoring the fluttering in my heart. "I go fast, I recommend you hold on tighter." I could practically hear the smirk in his voice as I tighten my hold around him, the pounding in my chest almost impossible to ignore as he revs up the bike. I felt his muscles underneath of his clothes, tense yet very firm. I quickly told him my address, and he sped off.
I had never ridden a motorcycle before, but the moment Sweet Pea took off, I loved it. I felt the wind on my face, and watched the scenery blur by. Caught up in my excitement, I didn't realize Sweet Pea pulling into Pop's and parking the bike. I look at him confused and we both dismounted the bike.
"I'm hungry, and I figured you were too princess." I shrug, as we walked in, the little bell above the door ringing. I looked around us, Pop's being almost completely empty. I glimpse at my phone, seeing it was already 10:30 am. Well, I guess I'm not going to school today. We ordered our food and headed over to a booth. We sat across from each other as a awkward silence fell between us. I waited a few moments, seeing if he would say anything, but he remained quiet.
"Thank you for the ride, but I can walk home from here." He just nodded.
"It's really no trouble. I can take you home." I give him a small smile.
"Okay." We got our food and ate in silence. After we finished, we left and got into the motorcycle. I enjoyed the ride to my house, thankful that Sweet Pea went slower this time. After about 5 minutes, we reached my house. Almost disappointed that my ride was over, I climbed off the motorcycle.
"Thanks." I say. He gave me a cocky grin in return.
"Don't get used it it princess. I still hate Northsiders." I laughed a little as I have him his helmet and watched him as he sped off. I turned around and walked into the house, not noticing the car that was parked in the driveway.
