Phana's POV
As soon as classes got out I called Yo. I told him I would take him to lunch and we'd make plans for his piano practice tonight. He said it wasn't necessary, but I just told him to meet me outside the dorms in ten minutes and ended the call before he could continue to argue. Maybe it wasn't very polite, but I wanted time with him and if I had to be a little pushy, I would do it. He was still my servant after all.
I parked in front of the dorms and got out, waiting for Yo. Just when I was getting worried that he wouldn't be coming, a car pulled up and he stepped out. The driver pulled away, leaving Yo standing there staring at me.
"Who was that?" I asked, feeling angry and jealous. He stepped up to me, looking slightly angry himself and I swallowed my pride, "Did you have something else planned?"
"It was Ai'Ming," Yo replied, taking a deep breath. "We didn't have anything planned, but I was at the school so I had to rush back here to meet you."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to be angry. I should have asked if you were busy," I apologized, taking his bag and opening the door for him. He shrugged his shoulders and got in the car. "What were you doing at the school? I thought practice wasn't until after lunch today?"
I started driving nervously, hoping my unreasonable jealousy hadn't ruined our lunch. Luckily, Yo accepted my apology with good grace and replied, "I was helping prepare for the Freshman Games at my faculty. Then Ming came and took me on an adventure."
"An adventure?" I asked, watching the way his face lit up with a smile. I had to quickly turn my eyes back to the road, afraid I would crash when my heart started beating too hard.
"Yeah, we went to the Medical Faculty. The typical high school scene, stalking crushes," Yo said, laughing as he stared out the window. I couldn't help the knowing grin that spread across my face. Yo was watching me in class today? He didn't seem to realize what he'd just said, but I was thrilled. Even an unconscious confession was better than nothing.
I drove the rest of the way to the Science Faculty to have our lunch, feeling like things were really going my way. Yo was finally relaxing around me and now that I knew I was still his crush, I couldn't stop smiling.
"This is pretty good," I said, indicating the food I'd ordered. "I know where I'll be eating when I come here."
"Why would you come here to eat?" Yo asked, looking at me strangely. "You don't have a long lunch and it isn't really close to your faculty."
"After the competition, I'll have to come here to protect you," I teased.
"What are you talking about?" he asked. "Why would you have to protect me?"
"Just wait, once people see you in the competition, there will be a crowd of people here, hoping to see you," I replied. "The same thing happened to me. Yours will be mostly guys though."
"Whatever," Yo said, rolling his eyes.
After an enjoyable lunch, I took him back to the dorms to get ready for his practice. We made plans to meet after my labs at 8 PM and I would take him to practice the piano.
Kit's POV
I was finishing my run on the treadmill at the gym when I heard a voice I recognized. I looked around to see Ming working out with the punching bag. He noticed me and started walking over. I had been about to finish my run, but for some reason I started running again.
"P'KitKat, you look great when you're all sweaty," Ming said, standing next to me. I tried to ignore him, but he just kept talking to me. What am I doing? I was already done with my workout, so why was I torturing myself?
"My name isn't KitKat," I said, finally getting a grip on my stupidity. "I have to go."
I walked to my locker and took off my workout shirt. When Ming followed me, I decided against showering and just pulled on my regular shirt, grabbed my bag, and started walking to the car. Ming kept walking with me.
"Do you want to go get something to eat?" Ming asked as we walked to my car.
"No," I replied shortly. I stop at my car and notice his car is parked right next to mine. Why can't I get away from this guy? I got in my car and turned the key, but nothing happened. Shit. Why did my car stop working now?
"It sounds like your battery is dead," Ming said, leaning in my car door when I tried to get out to check under the hood. "I'll call a guy to come fix it, but it will probably take awhile. Come eat with me while you wait?"
I don't know what possessed me, but I got into his car and allowed him to take me out for dinner. What is wrong with me? Wasn't I just trying to get away from him? As we sat eating, I looked at him, wondering why I agreed to come with him.
"Am I handsome?" Ming asked, noticing that I was staring.
"I'm just wondering how you got picked to be a Moon," I said, feeling annoyed. "Surely there are better looking guys than you in your faculty."
"You can say I'm ugly if you want," Ming said. "I won't mind, I have plenty of people saying that I'm handsome. I'm not stressed. Will you come to the competition?"
"Sure, I have to watch Ai'Pha passing on the Campus Moon sash," I said.
"Will you vote for me?" Ming asked.
"No, I'll vote for N'Yo," I said. I looked up to see his expression change. Did I hurt his feelings? His puppy dog eyes are making me feel bad again. "It would be a little weird if a cute kid like N'Yo won Campus Moon though."
"So you'll vote for me then," Ming asked again, hope in his eyes.
"Maybe," I replied, "but I'll support N'Yo and N'Suthee too."
"If you vote for me, I'll win," Ming smiled brightly again. His puppy eyes were smiling again. I smiled back at him, strangely pleased that I made him happy.
"When you win, you can take me out to dinner," I said. I didn't expect how thrilled he would be.
"If I win, you'll go on another date with me!" he yelled. People were staring at us and I kicked him under the table to get him to quiet down. He wasn't even phased, just leaned over to talk to me and said, "If I asked you on a date you'd definitely say no. If you promise to go out with me, I'll be the Campus Moon for sure."
I stared at him for a minute, watching as he suddenly started eating as fast as he could.
"Eat faster," he said, looking over at me. "I need to go back to the gym and practice some more."
I think I just created a monster. I watched him digging into his food, stuffing as much in his mouth as he could while smiling at me. I looked down at my plate, trying to hide my smile.
