"What's wrong Firefly?" The caramel haired girl asked her cousin. She all of a sudden walked into Y/N on the floor of her room, crying. Jay was with her too, doing his best to comfort her.
4 year old Y/N didn't look up at Elara. Her tears ran down her face and dripped onto the floor, soaking the carpet just slightly.
Back then, Y/N was very sensitive. Whenever her parents, or anyone for that matter, would do so much as ignore her, she'd think that they hated her, and would end up in a pile of sadness for the next hour or so.
Despite Elara's pleas to tell her what's wrong, she wouldn't open her mouth. She was expected home in the next few hours, and she lived at least an hour and a half away. But she didn't want to leave her cousin here crying, even if she had Jay with her.
So Elara thought on the spot of a simple activity. She sat on the floor, cross legged and looked towards the two young kids.
"Alright, I'm gonna teach you guys a little game. It's called Let's Talk."
Jay and Y/N perked up, curious about the new game brought to their attention.
"The way you play it, is you first think of a topic. And then we all go around and say how we feel. But we still have to stick to the topic. For example, the theme is sadness, we all go around and say what's making us feel sad at the moment. It'll help, trust me." She gives them a warm smile.
"So, let's start on that topic, I'll go first. What's making me feel sad right now is that I'll have to leave soon." Elara kept her sentence short and simple. "Who wants to go next?"
"Oh! I'll go!" Jay exclaims excitedly. "What's making me feel sad is N/N being sad." He and Y/N exchange glances.
"Aww, that's so sweet-. Firefly, what's making you feel sad?" Elara asks the girl.
"...mama ignored me again.." Hearing herself say it made Y/N tear up again. Before anymore tears spilled, Jay hugged his best friend tightly.
The action made Y/N feel a lot better. Elara smiled once more, glad that the short game could lift her mood at least a little bit.
But the game wasn't over yet.
"That was the first part of the game. The second part, is that you have to think of something good about the feeling you said. My feeling was that I was sad that I was leaving soon, but the good thing is that I'll visit again sometime."
She motioned for Jay to continue the game. "The good thing is that..we can make N/N feel better!"
Y/N stared blankly for a bit, trying to see a positive to her situation. "I haveee..you guys!"
"That's right, you do!" Elara confirmed with enthusiasm in her voice. Y/N was left with a grin on her face. It made Elara feel proud of herself, that she could easily make Y/N happier with a short and useful game.

"It is indeed a useful game. Thank you for bringing that into my mind," Y/N murmurs to herself in a quiet toned voice. She remembers that day clearly, how happy she felt afterwards. It's 2:00 AM right now and Y/N can't sleep so she's bringing back memories to keep her busy.

It's now 5 in the morning and Y/N has still managed to keep herself awake. She got up and left Nya's room to go wander around the monastery for a while. Her mind feels like it's on both a sugar high and a regular high at the same time. Despite her body begging to make up for the hours she spent doing anything but sleeping. Y/N has that romance book in her hands, but she sets it down on a table out in the corridor for some reason.
