Sophie's POV

I woke up to soft whispering in my ear. Two arms were wrapped around my waist, securing me to the person's chest. I slightly opened my eyes to see some of Keefe's hair ticking my ear and forehead. His head was rest on my shoulder, his breath brushing my neck. I smiled slightly but then I noticed something in front of me. My eyes were still a bit blurry and I couldn't tell what it was at first.

Then, I could make out hair and a face. Black hair with silver trips. The boy was wrapped in blankets, shivering slightly. I closed my eyes so I could look out of my eyelashes as he opened his eyes. They were red, probably from the lack of sleep and his lips quivered.

"Sophie?" He asked, reaching a hand out and tapping my blank arm. I opened my eyes slowly, trying to pretend I had been asleep. His pale lips made a small smile before he sat up in the bed.

"What is it, Tam?" I asked trying to sit up, but Keefe pulled me right back down, tightening his grip on my waist. I growled slightly, rolling my eyes as I tried to take his gripping fingers from my arm.

"I don't think the medicine is helping," he whispered to me. I was able to successfully sit up on my elbow as Keefe's arm draped over my waist. If the medicine wasn't helping, then I need to bring him to the doctor. I looked out the window and saw the sun rising slightly. My eyes looked over to Keefe, seeing that he was somewhat awake. he started mumbling in his sleep, yanking me back down next to him. I rolled my eyes once again, not wanting to be this boys stuffed animal.

"Keefe! Wake up," I hissed in his ear. His ice blue eyes slowly opened and he scrambled away from me, falling off the other side of the bed. I smirked and stretched before hoping out of bed next to Tam. "Keefe, get dressed, are you feeling better?" I asked him as I felt Tam's forehead. The blonde haired boy stood up from the ground, his cheeks red as he nodded his head.

"Tam, you still have a fever, we need to take you to the doctor," I told him. He hugged blanket tight to his body as I helped him limp back over to our side of the room. How he had walked over to the side of the room all on his own in pitch darkness last night, I wasn't sure. I helped him slip on a long sleeve shirt with sweatpants and cotton socks that Keefe let him barrow. Then, I grabbed one of Keefe's sweatshirts and threw it over his head.

"Keefe, get dressed, we need to go to the doctor and I don't trust you what so ever," I told him, pulling on a sweatshirt of my own. Keefe rolled his eyes mumbling as he pulled on trousers and a different sweatshirt.

"I love how much faith you have in me, Foster," he said, buckling his pants as we walked out the door. Tam hugged his arms to his chest, his hood over his head. Though Keefe had said he was feeling better, his forehead still felt a bit hot to the touch. Both boys seemed tired, which was understanding, but I was the one who was up pretty much all night trying to help them. I was the one who almost got kidnapped last night!

"Come on you guys, I can only be a crutch for one of you," I hissed at the two of them. Keefe smiled slightly, wrapping an arm over Tam's arm and around my waist. I rolled my eyes as both boys leaned on me. We walked to the bus stop down the street where other people were waiting. instead of having to get a bus ticket, we simply had to pay the bus driver. I paid for the three of us and Tam wanted a separate seat from us. So, me and Keefe sat in the same seat, me on the outside, while Tam sat behind us.  Keefe looked out the window while he laid his head on my shoulder. I was sure he was going to fall asleep right there.

"Everglen Doctor's Office," the bus driver called. I helped Keefe stand up and shoved him down the isle. Then, I grabbed Tam's hand and helped him down the steps. I walked the two boys into the office, getting a few weird looks from the people in the waiting room. But, I didn't care. I checked them in and sat them in the room.

"Sophie, what if their really is something wrong?" Tam asked me, his face paler than usual. I shrugged.

"Let's think about that if the time comes," I told him. He gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing up. Soon we were called into the doctor's room, but I told Keefe to stay outside. I walked Tam into the office but left right after. I had told the doctor there was someone else outside who needed to be watched.

But, it didn't seem I had anything to worry about. Keefe was zoning out in a chair, his sleepy eyes drooping. I sat down in the chair next to him, letting him lean his head on my shoulder. His breathing soon slowed and I smiled, patting the top of his head. I could feel my eyes starting to droop off from the early time of morning we had gotten up at.

I tried my best to keep my eyes open, but they soon were too heavy to stay open.

Tam's POV

The doctor said I had just gotten a summer's sickness, which I assumed was good news. It didn't sound like any disease I had heard of on the streets. She gave me some medicines and I asked her for a bit of extra for blonde outside. She smiled and handed she another bag.

"Thank you," I whispered to her before walking out the door and to the lobby.

I was expecting to find Sophie and Keefe as far away from each other. But Keefe was practically sleeping on Sophie, and I had to admit it was cute.

Even if it strained my heart strings admitting it.
